Brand is a ****, he was before he was rich and nothing has changed.
I like him because he's funny, articulate, a crusader and at least trying to change things albeit I don't hold out hope he will because he's the he establishments no.1 enemy right now and they want blood. Good on him for continuing to fight the good fight in the face of far more powerful forces. Funny as the letter was, I too think the RBS wrote that. Not an employee. So ultimately it's a bit rubbish.

I don't find him funny, articulate or a crusader.

I find him a hypocritical tw*at who's main interest is in publicity. Remember him turning up for the MayDay demos in London a few years ago surrounded by cameras filming him to show everyone what a man of the people he is. Yet another champagne socialist taking cheap potshots at an industry trying to recover without really understanding it.

And yes, I do work in the financial markets..........

He's no Billy Bragg. I agree, that he's self-serving and very immature. As a comedian, I have little idea whether he's funny or not. I'm not in a hurry to find out.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for the banking industry?

No - but making an effort to understand it better rather than silly publicity stunts would help.

Privatise the profits and socialise the losses, that's the banking industry isn't it?

Loans granted without proper risk assessment, endowment scheme misselling, PPI misselling, LIBOR rigging, currency rate rigging. Sale and resale of toxic assets that ultimately are picked up by the state. A bonus culture that encourages short termism, greed and exploitation, and when the economy is in need of banks lending to SME's to help generate growth the banks don't want to know.

An industry that is so shamefaced that, rather than do the right thing in terms of ethics and culture, instead regards the fines and criticism that are regularly charged by the regulators as (adopts judges voice at the start of Porridge) an occupational hazard, safe in the knowledge that none of the miscreants will be jailed.

You seem to have made an effort to understand it.

Not only that but these people have the audacity to say that they are going to leave the banking sector now because the government intend to make such actions illegal. NB to The Government, You should have criminalised theses actions years ago, you twonks!!!!!

He may have gone about it the wrong way, on this occasion, but at least he's having a go. Who else, in the public eye, is using their celebrity to try and help?

He's an easy target because he's a bit different from the majority of dullards in the 'I'm alright Jack' camp.

Good luck to him, I say.
Your'e right...he is richer than most of the people he slags off...and he uses offshore accounts...two faced hypocritical champagne socialist!
