Please don’t tell me that the fortune my country spends on the insatiable, never ending desire for knowledge our students demand through free education is wasted?

Surely their intellect, skills and raw ability enable them to intimately gather, analyse and process every facet of the requirements of a contemporary successful state – to make shrewd judgements and draw accurate conclusions?

Armed with this information they will - on mass – spread their favours amongst every conceivable political party at a General Election with total objective, absolute belief.

Surely they’re just too smart to sheepishly follow the latest political rantings of a popular exotic entertainer just because they quite like him?

In sensational and important news Russell Brand has just released a video on his YouTube series the Trews in which he urges people in England to vote Labour, in a huge departure from his previous stance that voting is a waste of time.

He explains his change of heart because “the Conservative party plans to dismantle our community assets, to tear apart the very fabric of our society”.

He says his interview with Ed Miliband last week made him change his stance on the value of voting.

That's certainly made up my mind for me..........

Will definitely. Not vote labour. Then.

He's definitely come across as a bit of an arse in this situation. But he's entitled to mistakes and change of opinion based on more information, most of us do that everyday so why shouldn't he.

On balance, I still think he's a positive force for good trying to reshape British politics and stir debate. Trouble is for everyone trying to drive change, a thousand sit on the side doing nothing or doing nothing but criticise. We've become a nation of politically disengaged popcorn eaters!

for what is worth (not much im sure), my accusation of hypocrisy isnt anything to do with his wealth. its to do with the fact he espoused a belief that the current political system isnt worth anything, but didnt offer any alternative, wrote a book on the matter, and now turns around and suggest which political party to vote for.

Whats wrong with that? Still allowed to speak up for what you believe in and stick up for the values you believe in aren't you? Just because you have done alright you can still remember whats important and think about the less fortunate doesn't. Too many people (especially blokes) have a real jealousy thing about Russel Brand, he puts himself out there to be shot at but at least he does stick his neck out unlike so many others.

i can't be arsed to read 10 pages of this but Russell brand is a complete bell end of enormous proportions whose advice on voting i would automatically do the opposite of as a matter of course. quite how such complete ****ing self proclaimed intellectual with no actual intelligence gets so much publicity or credibility beats me.
