Why did I pick this month to work up an eBay addiction?

Perhaps the postal workers we have on this forum can tell me more about this dispute, because I'm not criticising the workers, in fact I think Consignia's been a crock of shit right from the start.

However, this latest cock up is really starting to mack me off now.

Does anyone have ANY faith in the postal service anymore?

Where's the competition we were meant to be allowed to choose from?

Apparently there's a LOT of pressure on postal workers to strike from colleagues at the moment and a lot of bullying going on.

I'm waiting on about 8 things I've ordered online and this strike is driving me to rage on a level I never knew existed

Believe it when I say, this is a crucial battle and the outcome will determine if the postie is going to go the same way as the milkman. Few and far between.

So the supermarkets are going to start delivering post at a cheaper rate, under cutting Royal Mail. Don't forget that you'll have to go to your supermarket to get your post though, but what is convenience when it's cheaper?

I have the same problem here - sold loads of stuff (music on vinyl) that's in the post (and buyers wondering where it's got to and if I posted it yet), and a few things I'm awaiting delivery on.

Amazon appear to be dumping Irish orders directly to our post service in Holyhead now, stuff is coming through faster than it ever did before. Waiting on some other stuff from the UK thats taking ages though.

They're also open 24 hours unlike the f***ing sorting office which is closed by lunchtime of a weekend, before I'm usually awake. And the queues on weekdays make it unbearable.

They could just leave you a phone message or a text when your package/letter is in, fully automated of course, or you could just pop down every couple of days or whenever you're expecting something important. They could agree to hold onto it for ten days and if you don't get it that's your problem.

Already sounds ten times easier than the hassle of Crapsignia

Other than NMH nobody has any grounds here, until your stuff actually arrives & you check the date of posting can you say you've been screwed over by Royal Mail, not least as badly as the posties are.

Just because you've ordered something it doesn't mean it's going to be sent.

Moaning now just highlights the problems that will become the norm in a year or twos time, if the current management are allowed to steam roller in their money saving schemes.
At which point I'm sure there will be more people saying 'why can't we go back to how it was'.

Generally, a shipping confirmation email means it has... particularly when I've had fast service from some of the companies in question (Capital Vinyl in Cardiff) in the past.

I know the feeling, it's somewhat disconcerting that the reasons for the strike are just not getting across. IMO the CWU need to work a damn sight harder, I haven't even seen today's strike day mentioned on the news.

I hope you are referring to the PO chairman Leighton and ex FA Crozier(1 million bonus this year) He wants the postmen to deliver 2 hours later each day because he says thats what people want
Its these two that are shafting the postmen plus they say we are underworked and overpaid (9 bags a day all over 12kg) starting at 4.30am (official start time 5am)and finishing at 1pm 5 days a week for £250 take home.
You'll be getting your mail as late as 3pm if they have their way plus if your postman is off sick or on holiday you have to wait until another postman has finished his round before he does the overtime to deliver rounds that arent covered . That is why some people get their mail at teatime .
Our delivery office has cut our emplyees from 40 postman for 40 rounds to 36 postman for 40 rounds, work that out

i do have to say " You'll be getting your mail as late as 3pm"

will be early for us. not sure what our postie (at home, work is fine) does all day but he certainly doesn't deliver my mail until the mrs has been and got the kids from school and is home.
