f***ing terrible news. Really, really sad. In fact it moved me to blog a rather long tribute on the train home which I won't trouble you with all of except to say the essence of it was that I truly believe that Rounder was a place as much as a shop ("meet you at Rounder at 7") and that whatever goes up in its place will not be anywhere near as good.

Fuming.

Very sad news, many times when in town if the weather took a turn for the worse it was just the place to head for to attempt to find another disk on my wanted list, the staff and other customers provided information that increased my knowledge of music, particularly jazz, downloading does not give that.

Still in Brighton
Sad news, used to go there as a teenager. In recent years only really bought gig tickets from them or went in when the sale was on. Not their fault but with ebay and amazon marketplace selling at significantly cheaper....... they and their like will always struggle. I also pay for spotify through my squeezebox and hifi so buy significantly less physical product nowadays. When Resident opened in the north lanes i always thought Rounders days were numbered tbh. Still, it is very sad to see them go...... Use it or lose it i guess. In a different industry, but i am also worried that the Duke of Yorks may not last either.

To the current Rounder customers, will you migrate to Resident?

I used both shops depending on which was nearest at time. Both excellent in different ways. Resident have a very good website which gives comprehensive info on new releases but Rounder staff were more friendly I found.

Very very sad day - always used to go there when I lived in Brighton and I always went there when I came over for games - alas not any more

Damn shame. Bought so many gig tickets there over the years, fantastic choice of stock, even had a fine selection of Skint tee-shirts. Nice people too.

RIP RR

I expect Rounder premises will become yet another coffee shop. Such a shame.

I have just looked at the Resident website and there is a clear difference. I'm not sure Resident will serve all my needs to be honest.
