I still think he'll be off at the end of the season at the latest.

I think this is to calm everything down, otherwise this saga will completely derail United's season, its only October and the earliest he could leave is January.

5 year contract = United can sell him for more money than they would've been able to?

Masterstroke by Ferguson by the looks. The ensuing shitstorm has forced him to sign.

They're now after Torres as well apparently.

You've got to say, both Rooney and SAF have played this to perfection. Rooney has earnt himself the security of a long term contract on even more money, while SAF actually managed to engender a tiny bit of public sympathy and a load more column inches for the club. SAF can also now claim that the club is 'back on track' after all the recent dropped points, avoiding an inquest on his team as well.

I am not sure Easy. I will wait to hear the reasons.

I'll give you them.

"I've been given assurances, blah blah"
"It was never about money, blah blah"
"I realise now that this is still the place to be, blah blah"
"I just want to win trophies and the manager has convinced me I can do that here, blah blah"

That ought to cover it.

What a joke the whole situation was!

The media f***ing love it.

Now can we move on, or will this be news for another week?

Always going to happen, no other club he could move to for more money without the world going mental. Just posturing. Show's why player power and the Premiershite is so annoying.

I'm suprised Nicky Forster is being so vocal on Twitter, about the way Wayne has handled this and got the media involved. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Considering you knew it was going to happen, I hope you got on the 4/1 being offered by bookies!

bit of a joke really, wonder how much extra ££ he has managed to get in his contract

That's what I would like to know. No doubt his toy throwing antics have made him get a better deal. More fool United for caving in.

I think it will be that the American Shysters had to stump up more cash. Not because he was scared by some idiots in balaclavas.

Rooney played a blinder.
