I can’t believe they switched the legs of the ties at the last minute and changed the night to tomorrow. It’s a bloody outrage. I’m emailing Tony Barber and copying in Dick Knight as I speak.

Did the Vatican this morning but didn’t queue for them Basilica. The museums were amazing but the crowds even more so

Basilica in the Vatican was closed - almost always is on Wednesdays apparently

Didn't think the crowds were too bad at all. Our guide (going with a tour group does mean skipping all the queues) highly recommended avoiding the summer completely when it's absolutely mobbed and 40⁰ with no aircon.
