What an incredible building that 'Vittoriano' is.
We had the usual long list of sites / sights to tick off - Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Pantheon, etc, but this place - that to my ignorant shame, I knew nothing of - blew me away. The views of it, and from it, are spectacular - but none of the photos I took come close to conveying the incredible SCALE of the thing.
For anyone who didn't go / hasn't been - just focus on the statue of Victor Emmanuel on his horse at the centre - then look at the tiny people immediately below the plinth of that, to see how huge just that is.
