LuaLua was in that team for Newcastle coming off the bench. It also makes Krul an HGP.

To be fair, it was Joe Gatting that got us to the 5th round when we beat Blackburn. He equalised and then scored the winner in extra time.

I would think the situation is different now as he possibly thought that he would get the No 1 spot at some time but now knows that he wont and being a year older must look to his future and I believe that if a promoted club or one expected to be near the top of The Championship next season came in for him he would have to seriously consider the offer. I would think that Maenpaa falls into the happy to be no 2 or 3 bracket.

Well he might get all sorts of offers. But there are 20 #2 keepers in the Premier League . All of whom might get a chance to show their worth in cup games, to fill in for short notice injuries (ask Nick Pope) and prefer that to being #1 keepers in the Championship or elsewhere. Like it or not , some players are happy to fill that extremely well paid role especially at a club like , er, the Albion.

A club also needs that many keepers for training matches, and training drills. You don't want your ACTUAL keeper all roughed up from diving about all the time, facing a couple of hours of shooting practice.

The Premier League tends to publish all the retained lists about a week into June so at least we'll find out the official list then.

I'm not sure why a few people seem convinced that Tim Krul is interested in a move "home".

He has been playing in England since he was 18, and apart from a couple of loan spells (and international football) he has not played much football in Holland at all, infact he's played more games in the Scottish Premier League than he has in the Dutch Eredivisie. His wife is from Newcastle and I am fairly certain his daughter would have been born in England, maybe like Steve Harper's wife they've not been able to settle in the south and want a move back to Newcastle while Tim considers his options on another year here or not.

Couldn't have put it better myself, the Dutch as a nation seem to love coming here, and in fact Tim may well consider himself an honorary Englishman by now. If he has to go 'home' from time to time, then the Netherlands is less than an hour away. All things being equal l can see him remaining here for at least another season. I hope l'm right anyway.

Surprised at Niki Maenpaa being happy to stick around as a number 3 keeper really. After all, we have seen him wearing an Albion first team shirt far more than we have Tim Krul, and from what l have seen he looks a very good keeper

If he was that keen on playing regular first team football, I feel sure a team in the EFL would find a place for him.

I thought he had a very promising season 13/14, I can't really remember which game, but one of the home games whether the 3-0 against Blackburn or beating Leicester 3-1, or maybe both, or more, I thought he was superb, dominated the midfield and looked a real prospect. I even thought he had a fairly decent game at home to Barnet this season. As a 20 year old he made over 30 appearances 13/14 and we made the playoffs and the 5th round – so Garcia saw something in him too.

True he hasn't kicked on, and any weaknesses that you may have thought might disappear haven't, but he's still be an able League One player (all be it in sides that then got relegated!).

I suspect a League One side will pick him up, League Two at the very least. I really don't think he would have come through the Chelsea Academy, made 90 appearances for us under 3 different managers if he was so easily judged as a non-league player at best.

All this came through Chelsea Academy so must have potential i, crap as they sign any mediocre school players and then let them go when they realize they are not exceptional, when it comes to them
paying a proper wage.

That's because you have no understanding of the quality of any given player. You often knock them down a division or two - usually based on your own mythical 'taps side of nose knowledge', when in the majority of cases, you're wrong.
