Honestly, they'd have been better giving the job to John Major. Someone who has got more pragmatic and less grey in old age. If you're going to pretend the last 10 years didn't happen might as well extend that to 30.

So in 12 months we have the following appointments

a) Unelected Head of State
b) Unelected PM
c) Unelected Foreign Sec

Taking back control !!!
Tbh - we never actually had electoral control over the Cabinet positions - they are appointed by the PM - We also don’t have any control who becomes Leader/PM either - Conservative MPs select candidates then members of the Party vote but only if a candidate fails to get over 100 MPs backing him/her - Sunak got over that threshold - Only way we get control over any of it again is through a GE.

Its true though, Sunak has something very much in common with our beloved Manager, RDZ - they have both taken the concept of rotation to a whole new level!🙄

But that's the point. The system isn't fit for purpose if it allows all these unelected appointments into positions of real influence.

Particularly for me the idea that an unelected Lord can hold senior ministerial office is unsavoury. Accountable to nobody and hasn't won any kind of mandate to get there.

At least with Sunak he won his seat.

Is the Cameron thing any more complicated than rishi saw him yesterday at the cenotaph and pig man said he wasn’t up to much so could take on a role?

Did rishi just pick the first person he saw after deciding to sack her?

up to a certain point the captain of the Titanic was also doing a pretty good job

he walked away after he created an absolutely colossal mess that 7 years later we are still dealing with
“People forget that on the Titanic’s maiden voyage there were over a thousand miles of uneventful, very pleasurable cruising before it hit the iceberg.”

Oh good - Therese Coffey has resigned as Environment Secretary. Maybe Sunak can appoint someone who actually gives a toss about improving how we treat the country we live in?
Steve Barclay moved to Environment...

He did but we have a politician with less than ten years experience running the country (into the ground).

saaf of the water
Brexit, Austerity, Libya and Greensill. Cameron whilst not appearing to be as odious as those who followed him, was right up there with May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak as regards to the damage he has done to this country.

A principle-free snake-oil salesman, nothing more nothing less.
Get off that fence.

New health secretary - Victoria Atkins, who's replacing Steve Barclay (he's just been confirmed as the new environment secretary).
