Recommend a decent Sunday lunch in a nice country pub near Brighton

The Yew Tree offers large portions of bloody good food, friendly and efficient service and all at a decent price too.

Buggered if I can remember the name of the village it's in, though.

If you want a nice restaurant in the countryside, as I mentioned on another thread - Cromwell's at Golding's Barn, south side of Small Dole.
It's very good, and a pleasant setting all round.

Completely agree, that or the Plough at Pyecombe

The Half Moon at Warninglid is run by the people who used to own the Fountain in Ashington (they sold out about 3-4 yrs ago).
Went there for the first time on Saturday evening. Very impressed.

Harveys Mate - you might want to get yoursewlf down to the Anchor Inn at Barcombe on the River Ouse. Take her / him / them / it out for a little boat ride also maybe, or a walk along the Ouse or the disused railway line...

The food there is not very good. The pub is up for sale.

I took the family and grandchildren etc 25 of us to The Forresters at Scaynes Hill in November, the food and service was excellant that day buit have not tried it since. It was not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive but all round VFM.

Also near Scaynes Hill is the Sloop - 5 mins drive from the A272 but feels like the middle of nowhere. Decent food, not too expensive and nice oldish building. No Harveys though :annoyed:
