I agree. Let's kick the word rascism out of football and into the Oxford English Dictionary where it will only be a few pages on from the correct spelling, which is racism.

The shit grammar on this board really browns me off...

Well, this has been an interesting thread.

Unfortunately I suspect that racism will never entirely disappear, because we are creatures who evolved to live in tribes of about 150 people, who are living in communities of millions in some cases. Our poor little minds aren't built to cope with the stress of all these faces and chatter so our cultural and personal insecurities result in prejudice. We're all guilty of prejudice, anyone who says they aren't are liars.

It is wrong, and we, all cultures, societies, races, and religions, need to learn to deal with it like grownups and stop trying to blame others for what are essentially are our own problems.

There is no room for BNP or racism anywhere.

Get a life and think a bit about the bigger picture.

If you cannot stand a multi-cultural society I suggest a nice place called Macedonia for you.

Your comments are indeed correct but you can't be all one side. You need to have the same contempt for people like Sheikh Abu Hamza al-Masri, and his followers that want to destroy capitalism and turn the UK islamic.

Who says i dont? Thats a seperate argument. Being against the BNP doesnt make you automatically in favour of scum like Abu, but then the vast majority of muslims disagree strongly with him as well. Its like saying all American Christians support the Ku Klux klan.

No its not like saying all American Christians support KKK! I never said anything like that. All I said was, that if you hate one side, you have to hate the other. In my opinion, there are too many people that feel so self righteous because they are all liberal and so against everything right wing, yet when questioned on the opposite side of extremism (like radical Islam), they cower away from the subject and are almost scared of speaking out or even having an opinion due to fear of being racist. I also never said you supported them. Stop reading between the lines and start reading the lines.

Why don't you lot just agree to disagree ?

The bigger issue is that racialism is finished and not wanted.

Take that on board and then this futile debate will end.

Don't think its futile Beach, People have lost the plot in issues like this. The world's gone mad. At least at a forum like this you can debate it without being told to be quiet in that corner over there and talk about something else. If you are bored of this thread then don't read or post on it.

Not bored - somewhat distressed at the attitudes and postings.

Agreed, some are a bit too extreme, one is a real arse up the wing, others are a wind up. I try to be somewhere in the middle and just think everyone confuses the issue. The problem is that in order to tackle real racism you need to filter out all the crap.

You're missing my point. I totally oppose Abu and his followers as much as the BNP, but because of what they believe not because of their colour. The BNP would oppose him but for very diferent reasons than me. As this thread is about raciscm I was trying to make the point that disliking someone because of their colour is not the same as disagreeing with their beliefs.

hmmmmm

what a debate huh???

being comfortably middle class and living in gloucestershire its always easy to say that racism should play no part in our soceity and im 100% behind it disapearing.

however, my experiences of certain places and speaking to people has made me feel sympathy for whites in particular areas in britain.

im not gonna lie, when i was in oldham i felt out-numbered and vunreable, to be a white lad in a town like oldham must be pretty f***ing bleak.

i dont think its easy enough to say 'racism is wrong', 'the bnp are wrong'.,

the fact is that the bnp are getting voting in for a reaon and many of us dont really understand what the whites of certain northern and midlands towns are going through.

racism is shocking, however, in certain places and scenarios its understandable.

which brings me to my point...

a brighton board is NO place for racism- there is no reason for anyone to use racist terminolgy on this board and if it is used it can only be put down to people who feel safe behind there keyboards, and feel they can say anything they like without actually thinking bout what they are saying.

I just find the whole issue totally unacceptable.

I cannot believe that in a British ground any fan would ever endorse a racialist chant.

The issue has moved on to be totally out of order yet some people still believe this is acceptable.

where do we go from here ?

BNP want Britain all white. ABU wants Britain all Muslim. Not too much difference. BNP hate people of other races, they ARE racist. All Agreed. ABU Hamza and followers hate the like of you and me because we are non muslims and are infidels and second class citizens. Not too much difference there either. Both of them make assumptions because of either you look different or different lifestyles.

That's enough for me. Said enough.

Take the words Aussie and Paki. Both are formed in exactly the same way (first syllable of the country with the diminutive 'ee' sound added) but I don't know of a single Aussie who finds the word 'Aussie' offensive. They call themselves Aussies and they don't mind anybody else calling them Aussies. Therefore it is NOT offensive.

Pakistanis on the other hand sometimes do find it offensive.

A couple of points here:

Firstly, Australians call pakistani's "Paki's" all the time. When the Aussies are playing the "Paki's" at cricket the commentators will say," and in comes the Paki to bowl". For them it's not derogatory at all. I reckon Richie Benaud is told not to use the word when he works in the UK.

Secondly, the thing that strikes me most about the UK compared to other countries is our fear of being racist. This may well be a good thing. You go to Australia, New Zealand, the US etc & you will see them proud of their flag & proud of their nation. You have flags flying in gardens & off houses. The Sydney Harbour Bridge has the Aussie flag flying at the top. In the UK, you are often deemed racist if you have a flag in your house.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but some people here don't realise that Paki is not a racist comment elsewhere
