All agreed on here that it is wrong, Yes.

I personally thought it was discrageful how Emile Heskey and the other black England players were singled out for a barrage of abuse in Macedonia and on past trips.

But are England fans any better how many times do you here them chanting "I'd rather be a paki than a turk etc etc.

Out of intrest, picture the scene your out in Portugal next year p1ssed up surrouned by hoardes of English fans and they break into a chorus of rather be a paki than a turk... In all honesty would you hang your head in shame and walk away in disgust?

heard a racist shout to a plymouth player from one of our fans at that game, looked over in disgust but could'nt tell who said it. If they were sitting next to me it would've been "Steward...get this tosser out!", either that or a slap across the nose!

I heard that as well Crabtree. Waited for the booing to start and for the guilty party to be dealt with. But nothing happened!

I was sat on the train back from Reading two years ago when a group of C*NTs started shouting Seagulls (in a SigHail manner) while giving Nazi salutes, we asked them to stop and they then wanted to fight us, coz we wern't proper fans, last away game I ever went to !!

Abusing a person because of colour, religion, sexual orientation, age, size etc, is wrong, full stop. However you should not be scared to take issue with any of the above people because they belong to one of those categories for fear of being branded a ----ist.

lisbon, porto etc are mult-cultural places, from what i can tell from holidays and working with Local Government in Porto, there is a good balance to their life, no or little racism between groups.

Las thing we need is loads of racist brits, germans and dutch stirring things up.

I wouldn't hang my head in shame - they don't speak for me or England and the English people, just themselves. I would walk away though. Something I couldn't do on the train when some Brighton 'boys' the other week piped up with a similar, but oddly PC version of the song: "I'd rather be dead than a Turk."

How refreshing!

Absolutely. The English still have a serious problem with racism, and yes, the chant you refer to is a disgraceful racist chant and shouldn't be acted on accordingly.

yes but this has been done to death!!!!!

What about something interesting, like....

Why is it that afro-carribean humans are superb athletes, but swim like rocks?

Why on Fame Academy does that Irish bloke, patrick Keilty keep having a pop at the scottish bloke, when he is dead right when he says that the performances this year are not up to the required standard. No-one in their right mind bought any songs written or recorded by Sinaed, the scottish winner and that afro-carribean bloke Lamaar, so therefore what is the point?

Does anyone else think the singer coach woman on fame Academy with the red hair is seriously hot?

What is the point of Cold Play?

To Redland about the kids shouting "seagulls". You idiot. Never going to an away game again since? Those kids might have been right about you not being a real fan then. You shouldn't let something that daft deter you.

To those of you going on about the Paki/Turk thing, is that racist? What has that to do with Race? What if they sang, "I'd rather be Pakistani than Turkish"? It's the slang word "Paki" that offends you, not what they are singing. It has become a derogatory term over the years for people from Pakistan (which thick people also called Indians). Are you offended by being called a "Brit" or a Scot a "Scot" or a Swede a "Swede". It is has nothing to do with the race of a person and cannot be put into the same context as racist abuse to Black players or any Black person or any other race even the White European race. It is about a certain country. "Turk" is about Turkish people and the only reason you aren't allowed to say is "Paki" is due to previous use of it by ignorant idiots over the years. You can say Pakistani. I myself would not sing it because I think it's a stupid pointless chant. But to all those that want to use it at a game against Turkish teams I say, Sing "Pakistani" and not "Paki". That'll stump the PC brigade and press that won't have anything to write about on the subject.

Why didn't anyone have a go during the encounters with Germany when English fans taunted the Germans with Songs of Bomber Harris and calling them Nazi's? Someone explain to me what that has to do with Race? It's countries and not race. The England fans chanting abuse at Germans or Turkish didn't do it because of the colour of their skin. They were having a go at all of them regardless of Skin colour. Now thats not very acceptable either, but it isn't racism. Having a go at someone simply because of their appearance, due to their race is Racsim. Try not to confuse that fact.

I was appalled when I saw a group of seagulls in their late teens singing 'we'l be going round north london with our willies hanging our singing ive got a foreskin'
Me and a few mates had a pop at them and they just got mouthy and started calling us jew lovers etc. So what if we were? People like this embarrass the club.

Probably were pissed up and just kids. Sounds like quite a juvenile thing to do. Anyway are you sure thats what they were doing? Did you know that in 1996 Police investigated for 2 months racism at the Goldstone, because when the North Stand sang "Seagulls", the police thought it was a Nazi Salute. So stupid!

Sorry Captain Sensible, but I'm going to have to disagree. Calling someone of the asian community a "paki" is taking the piss because a) it is offensive (and meant in an offensive way) and b) not everyone from asia is from Pakistan. I have friends who are asian and they would not be happy if I called them a paki. I am not at all pc, but calling them an offensive name is asking for trouble.

Also, don't call black people wogs or chinese people chinkies.
