Brighton factually.....
The total lack of logic involved in these things makes me laugh sorry. The messages in religious texts are distorted and *******ised for people's own ends. And everyone else just laps it up, this is the first I have heard that Muslims aren't supposed to like dogs. Maybe the ones i have meet are bad Muslims.

It is funny your right, but also scary as millions of people believe what is written or told to them hundreds of years ago. It's not just Muslims, Christians have no moral high ground. What I find hard to understand is people follow the rules about what to think, what to wear and when to do things..... Surely all these people are not stupid and can at least see the arguement that nearly all religions are built on fear and are written to subjugate the people of the time for various reasons, as the Romans re wrote the New Testament incorporating pagan dates etc to pacify the new world....

Or maybe they have got it right and I am wrong....

I don't think so though.

I agree it is madness. I suspect (from a little investigating) that this dogs thing is just one interpretation of the qu'ran and there are others.

http://islam.about.com/od/islamsays/a/Dogs-In-Islam.htm

Funnily enough most of the stuff you find on google is about the sign that we are talking about. I think I will assume that some Muslims don't like dogs rather than it being a blanket rule.

It is all unhelpful nonsense that keeps us divided.

Edit: - As a piece of negative PR for Islam this is really very clever. Tell a nation of dog lovers that Muslims don't like dogs, an excellent way to breed mistrust and suspicion.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the UK. Why is it the fastest? Look at the numbers who have migrated here over the last 15 years, a large majority of these people have been Muslims.
We are possibly dealing with a lot of change in this country, and a lot of politics. I'm telling you this from my own experience.

Perhaps the Muslims are right..perhaps Allah is the answer and they are correct that our secular British lives would be enhanced if we would only accept Islam.

The only problem is the media. Every time I turn on the TV there are stories about Muslims killing each other in dreadful ways, hanging people for converting to another religion stoning their women folk in public or generally screwing each other over. The answer? Stop showing us these nasty stories and focus more on the love and peace aspects of the faith. That seems to be the option preferred by moderate Muslims whenever there is another atrocity.

Aside from all the Islamophobia. This reminds me of the dyslexic, agnostic insomniac.

Bedfordshire police have certain "rules" when calling at a Muslim household. I believe they are not allowed to enter said premises before 7am, and normally have to contact the occupants before arriving, which is great if you want to do a surprise raid.
Anyway back to dogs, and police dogs in this case.

2) The use of police dogs in the home
has implications for certain minority
communities. It is import
ant to remember that w
hatever view is held about
a person’s lifestyle, it is their hom
e and should be respected. Officers
should be aware that carn
ivorous animals are seen as unclean by the
Muslim community and will generally
not be allowed inside homes. Contact
with the animal would be viewed as
making a person unclean. In
consequence Muslim children have little or no experience of dogs.

Never fear Burka dog is here.

I really don't see any issue with any of the police stuff above. It's guidance. It's designed to ensure that minimal offence is caused where possible. What's wrong with that? It explains that kids from Muslim families might, *might* be more afraid of dogs than other kids- I'd say that's worth knowing.

FFS, it doesn't mean they won't raid houses or ever use dogs, it's quite simply offering advice in certain situations. No need to present it as some kind of (shudder) "PC gone mad" argument.

This. If there was a need to use indicator dogs during a search of a Muslims house I suppose it is normal to remove the occupants first anyway? Or is that not the case?

That is an awful thing to say, don't blame Buddhists the Amish or the likes of a baptist for what Hadith and Quran instruct

They all have some pretty stupid beliefs and rules they have to live by was my point including even the Buddhists and Amish, you missed my point any rational person can think and act for themselves without having to check the rule book on how to live, what's right what's wrong, what's good what's bad, when to eat when not to eat, what to wear what not to wear. You get the picture.

Any rational person wouldn't ...but the whole point of religion is that it isn't rational. One has to accept that there is an invisible deity who takes a personal interest in your wardrobe and your haircut. Clearly it is gibberish but we all have to make allowances for this nonsense every day.

Hey ho.

Don't blame Muslims for anything, the fundamentalists are the hooligans of religion. Their moral guide informs them that what they do is pleasing to the god of their prophet. I knew a lot of ex Muslims, I know a few half Muslims that became fundimentalist, it's not the people

Learn about what I defend, where am I defending any religion.

I don't understand what your trying to say, but I get the impression you yourself may have a secret hatred.

I am a simple man who knows a little bit about each religion and it's history.

From my own background my grandfather was an Anglican father in Hove just round the corner from the Goldstone ground. When I was young I lived with my gran who still went to church and lived next door to a church in portslade and learnt from a very young age. At best it is a moral guide for in my opinion people who lack conviction and belief in themselves and need support, and love through leadership. all these things can be achieved through community and friendship. That's my opinion it's not gospel and you can choose not to believe me, however if you do choose not to believe me...... I will stone you to death with jelly

Actually I may have misread your post, the quotes have gone weird on my phone. Hold that thought I'll get back to you when I am on my computer and can make sense of it.

You didn't expand, you told me about your childhood and made a silly insinuation.

you couldn't fill your knowledge of Islam on a postage stamp

I have Muslim Sunni relatives I'm from a staunch R.C family, I reject Catholicism as much as I reject Islam

I would never comment on a topic if I didn't know anything about it

Just saying

Opining ,about subjects of which we know little, is what built NSC. Where would be the fun in well thought through discussion when ignorance, prejudice and suspicion will suffice?
