What is with all this arguing and arrogantly trying to shout someone else down for expressing their view that they are looking forward to the Liverpool game over Palace? No one should spend their life obsessing over some Club 50 miles away.

You would probably have to say Palace is more important in terms of the greater scheme of points and pushing for the Premier League. Liverpool is the glamour game though; they are one of the world's biggest clubs; if you look at their line-up versus Exeter City we can expect a pretty tasty line-up too for us to beat. As a few others have commented, hopefully the likes of Liverpool coming down to the Amex will be the normal in the not so distant future.

On a side note, WHEN we make it to the Premier League I hope we do not become a Club that just dismisses competitions like the FA & League Cup. It is of course important to stabilise yourself in the top division but football is about winning competitions and days out at Wembley; Neil Warnock’s reaction to their League Cup defeat was pathetic and of huge disrespect to Rochdale!

QPR players, could they not handle another 5/6 games this season? What will Neil Warnock be remembered for in 20 years time; spending a shed load of money to finish 12/13th for five years running?! Alex McLeish will not be remembered for relegation at Small Heath in the long term, he will be remembered for winning them their first major trophy!

Mcleish will be remembered for going across the road.

Not the league cup.

He will not in the long term! I know Birmingham well, that is City fuelled by their hate for each other, but a number of the Villa 1981 League Champions & 1982 European Cup winners ended up on the Blue side of the City direct from Villa, including Ron Saunders, and they are all still loved by the Villa crowd for what they did at VP. Dwight Yorke was hated when he left Villa for Man Yoo and kissed their badge, and he turned up at Blues, but now all 99% of the fans remember are his goals. Time heals most things & what is the point is sweating the small things.

Managing Palace.

That is shame for you! I used Alan Mullery as an example as I actually know him very well and, of course, he done a great job here, I never heard him say anything but good things about Brighton. As you could probably guess from my previous comments Villa are close to my heart as are the Seagulls, I worked with an ex-Blues player a few years back and I got along with him great. Life is too short to be angry and bitter over things that really don't matter in the great scheme of things.

No you don't, he backed you into a corner and given a choice between acknowledging that he had a point and looking stupid you chose to look stupid. Pity, I was quite warming to your pithy style!

All league games are bigger than Liverpool, for the simple reason If we keep going like we are in the league we will be playing them twice next year. Bosh.

Not the real one
Getting back to the topic of buying tickets. Why were there much fewer left for non 60pointers than the Palace or Leeds matches? At midnight on Tuesday night there looked to be about 6-700 left and then at 09.14 yesterday when I got in the system, there was only about 30 tickets left?
I can't believe that suddenly between midnight and 9am 60pointers were buying tickets all night?
I can help thinking that they held them back in the shop or did the online system allow people to buy before the 9am opening?

I would imagine a mixture of both. I got my Liverpool tickets on Monday and the site was selling them a good hour before the advertised 7pm start; I would guess a lot of people were getting into the system at 8.35am to get ahead of the 9am rush.

'A friend' of mine managed to get Leeds United tickets (60 points needed) & they only had 50 at the time; obviously the new system is having a few teething problems. I do feel sorry for anyone that misses out of tickets but on the flipside the Club is not used to dealing with this amount of demand but I am sure they will sort any problems out.

Yes any system is bound to have teething problems, it was just that for example the WSK WI block had good availability prob about 250 seats then it was unavailable after 9am. I'd imagine they kept them for ticket office sales. Anyway I guess you just have to get up early in the morning and jeep trying. I did get 2 tickets in the end. So it was ok for me but I'm a but concerned that as more and more hit the 60point mark, it becomes a closed shop and those say with 40points are stuck. Will have to wait and see if the club raise the limit to say 100.

Also Palace is the Buggest game we've played since we played them in the 1978-79. This game is simply huge!!!!:albion2:

I agree with you up to a point. I hope we don't become one of these teams that regards the cup competitions as an irritant. I think with the strength in depth that we have, particularly in midfield this needn't be an issue with us at the moment. We are capable of resting some players and still be able to start others, who in different seasons, would also have been first teamers.

Where I differ with you is that people should regard the Liverpool game as more important than the Palace game. Palace, for good or ill, are our main rivals and the pleasure to be derived from sending them scuttling back up the road, with their tail between their legs, far exceeds that of a one-off cup "upset".

But you don't differ from me. I wrote that Palace was the more important game to win, Liverpool is just more of an attactive fixture for locals in terms of their history and players they will bring with them; and why there are offers of crazy money for Liverpool tickets on this site; poor old Leeds United, they've been totally forgotton about - should be busy in Brighton centre after that Friday night game.

Looks like I should have paid more attention to your post in the first place . As we do indeed agree that for the casual/neutral fan the Liverpool fixture would be the bigger draw.

I also find it amusing that Leeds seem to be bottom of the bill out of this trio of fixtures. It is a game we discount at our peril in amongst the differing attractions of the Liverpool and Palace games.

How you reckon we will do in these games? I have a feeling for defeats against Leicester on Saturday & Liverpool, a point against Leeds but back to form with a 3-0 victory over Palace!
