QUESTION for REMF Organizing Committee and anyone who is attending Friday

I agree. But in terms of money generated it is not particularly huge...and after all this is the aim of the organisation. It is also at an advantage to many other charities in that it is linked to the football club and with this comes many ready made donors and contacts. On this latter point, via the football club there is probably only 2 degrees of seperation between REMF and almost anything/anyone in the county. I have said before it has the potential to be absolutely huge. The Brighton marathon is not exploited properly; much more could be raised from this if it was done properly. On this point REMF should also be organising a 10k/half marathon. There are a few charities running Brighton 10ks and half marathons now. I realise I am coming across as mean as I know the REMF put a lot of effort in but it really needs to go to the next level...and it can.

Don't forget that everything that is organised is done in peoples spare time as well as having full-time jobs. I think raising over £125,000 is bloody good for a charity that is done in peoples spare time.

I appreciate this. But I think you are at a crossroads now. I think you can take it a lot lot further. Running is a boom activity, it's not too difficult to organise races in Brighton and around Sussex, why not organise a 10k for 2014? The cost/return is high and it will grow over the years if organised well and run correctly. Go on, do it. I have thought about this myself but as I do not live in Brighton it would be too difficult currently.

It has raised £125,000 plus for charity. That is £125,000 plus going to help good causes and junior football clubs in memory of Robert. And THAT is something everyone involved should be very proud of.

But please, feel free to criticise. Presumably you will all be PM'ing your offers of help over the next few days, or offering to get involved to people in person at tonight's match.

Why should I organise it myself? I'm not part of the REMF. It's their job to look at ways of making money is it not? I have provided a few pointers it's now their job to act on them. I'd certainly be happy to advise but I do my own stuff and live outside the UK so it's just not practical to be hands on.
