I agree. But in terms of money generated it is not particularly huge...and after all this is the aim of the organisation. It is also at an advantage to many other charities in that it is linked to the football club and with this comes many ready made donors and contacts. On this latter point, via the football club and its fan base there is probably only 2 degrees of seperation between REMF and almost anything/anyone in the county. I have said before it has the potential to be absolutely huge. The Brighton marathon is not exploited properly; much more could be raised from this if it was done properly. I have previously fully explained to Uncle Spielberg how it works but the advise has never been acted on. Another person has also done the same. On this point REMF should also be organising a 10k/half marathon. There are a few charities running Brighton 10ks and half marathons now. I realise I am coming across as mean as I know the REMF put a lot of effort in but it really needs to go to the next level...and it can.

I don't want to get involved in this but I have done my best with the Brighton Marathon and it has raised £ 20000 for the fund in 3 years. I don't know if people think there is a huge office and organisation working for the REMF on a full time employed basis but in reality it is a handful of people who spend countless hours of their own time, for free on top of trying to make a living and other life events, year after year. Any help or advice is appreciated to make the fund better and stronger but I think we have done pretty well to date.

Why should I organise it myself? I'm not part of the REMF. It's their job to look at ways of making money is it not? I have provided a few pointers it's now their job to act on them. I'd certainly be happy to advise but I do my own stuff and live outside the UK so it's just not practical to be hands on.

The ego has landed. You do have a high opinion of yourself don't you? That's not pointers - that's criticism dressed up as advice.

What was it you were saying the other day? Times are hard so we might as well be nice to each other. Maybe you should start to practice what you preach.

Maybe I am being a bit harsh BUT I really hate to see opportunities wasted. It's a shame. I really do think REMF can be bigger and I see this as quite a positive thought/comment.

£64 raised person doesn't sit well really. People talk about the annual binfest on this, but I'm amazed nothing has been done... the annual binfest goes over the same ground, and yet here we are again with the same problem. Bizarre

It's not damaging to be asking questions about a cause we all support ... it's a sign that people want the charity to flourish.
