Many years ago the Swan was a legendary pub serving the very finest in Harveys Beer. Fantastic was an understatement and I was so shocked about 10 years ago coming back and seeing it no longer had Harveys but some mediocre stuff called Fnuttocks Best or something similar. Anyway, and I am in the know here. John the landlord was originally very very anti- Albion regarding Falmer. However about two years ago he had a bit of an enlightenment and is now, I believe, very pro Falmer (wonder why?).
Not withstanding this I would recommend we all use the Club bars as long as the Albion have a tie in with a fine Ale purveyor such as Harveys. Would be good to have such a Lewes tie in as well wouldn't it (hee hee)? Also any agreement with the big multi national beer companies like Diaggio etc etc is tantamount to signing your life away with the devil, if you ask me.

Apart from Guinness and Red Stripe (and a few smaller international beers), Diageo's more known as a spirits company – but I know what you mean. Would be an absolute waste if we're lumbered with the likes of Foster's and John Smith's.

How about the uni bar?

Get to ctach with some of the lady students and beer would be rather cheap.

Breaking our journey in Lewes seems to be a plan.

The club have said that the village will be out of bounds guarded by our own stewards so the 'Dad's Army' won't be needed.

Would be wise of the club to offer Harveys, just looking at the replies on this thread alone make it clear. We're THE Sussex club and should have THE Sussex beer.

Would like to see, as mentioned above, some original beer ideas for a unique footy club.

Any or all of: Leffe, German white beers, other Belgian beers, Guiness (a DECENT pint of), Harveys (x2 types - mild + ?), Black Sheep / Hobgoblin / Speck'd Hen + then a bog standard brew like Carlsberg to appease the lagerians of unoriginality.

Will never set foot in Falmer village on matchdays. They've made the rod for their financial backs.

Will probably be coming in from outta town for the time being so Evening Star / Lord Nelson etc, then into The Seagull's Nest (as Rhodri Williams suggested our home be called on Talk Sport yesterday) for a few brews IF they lay on some or all of the above list.

P.S Per'aps we should have our own label? Old Brightonian? Seagulls Original? Albion Ale? Speckled Seagull? por ejemplo.:drink::thumbsup:

Drink at the ground. Give the money to the Club. Watch the Sky game or whatever.

That's exactly what i will be doing if every Albion fan had there pre Match beers in the stadium i am sure it would make a massive revenue boost and maybe they could even put X % of that towards the transfer budget.

So if the Transfer budget is low we can only blame ourselves - Boost the budget :drink::drink::drink::drink::drink::drink: Get the idea.

:

They are building a football stadium not a Students Union Bar so I doubt if any of those above would be considered. Will probably be Carlsberg and Tetleys or Fosters and John Smith depending on which of the 2 companies give us most money for the rights to sell their products.

Great fun working out what beer we will drink - in two to three years time!!
Time to sink a few more at the Sportsman first.
As previously said, the swan landlord is a "character". He's banned uni students. Does't do hot food in the evenings. But in his old age (thinking of selling out for his retirement?) has done a U turn and may welcome drinkers in blue and white.
But I agree. drink in the stadium (and hopefully eat too) and make the most of the day and our new home.

The club will surely be smart enough to do a tie-in with Harveys and Uncle Sams, or at least burger King, and have copious bars and food-places throughout (if it's three deep at the bar a la Sportsman or thirty deep for a burger a la Withdean, then they'll be doing something very badly wrong)
