Pubs Falmer

Not knowing the lay out up there , are there any boozers that will be near the station / stadium. Heard the Swan mentioned a few times, any good ?

Is this a wind up?, I thought it was well documented that the landlord is a complete c:censored: now I will do almost anything for a beer but I would rather have my pre match drink with some wino on a bench in Wild Park than give a penny to that sanctomonius w@nker

i'll probably drink around the station

trafalgar street crawl perhaps

does anyone know where the proposed park & ride will leave from by the way?

I shall mainly be parking at Glynde or Lewes stations and riding in on the train.

But the P&R sites that will have buses to the stadium will be (as at present) at Mill Road and Mithras House, plus a new one at Brighton Racecourse for people travelling from the Peacehaven & Saltdean areas - with best access via Wilson Avenue, rather than Rottingdean or Woodingdean.

I expect by the time the ground is built, the Swan landlord will be more receptive to the Albion, it business after all. I reckon he's only against it to keep his current regulars sweet anyway. And whos to say there wont be a change of ownership

Drink at the ground. Give the money to the Club. Watch the Sky game or whatever.

Do you reckon the club will do the decent thing and a) get some decent lager (ie not carling or stella), b) have enough staff to serve, c) charge a sensible price and d) get Harveys?

sorry can you clear this one up, Carling seem to cater for those that like a lower strength Lager, and Stella is the most popular of the strong brews.
If a pub sold both i'd be under the impression that 99% of lager drinkers would be happy

i think the point that he was trying to make was that they both taste like piss

lets get some nice lagers in, something different...a nice berliner or a leffe, or even something like budvar

as mentioned before, brighton as a city is a place that tries to be different, lets carry it on with our stadium:ascarf:

both are chemical filled nastiness that screws your head. if your going to have to have big brands, go for Carlsburg, Becks or Heineken at least you dont get a hang over while drinking them. ideally something nice to drink would be superb, Budvar, San Migel, and maybe a pleasant german white beer. Otherwise its stay in the pub.

I would have thought we would be barred from entering the village full stop. At least I hope that is the case.

Can yuo ban people from going into a village on a match day. The only way will be to serve section 60's I would have thought??

The Hikers is only a short walk away, a very nice pub for away fans.

not having a pop, it would be nice if it had a fully stocked bar, but you can bet yer bollocks it'll be one tap of carling/carlsberg and one of John Smiffs (if yer lucky)

why would we want to go to the village? i'm going to take great pleasure in proving to them know-nothing, know-it all's that we are good neighbours
and re The Hikers I just want to repeat post no.26 (above)

The only sense of horror and foreboding I have about the stadium is that the bars will be run with a Carlsberg-Tetley tie. Talk about a disorderly queue for the exits...

That would all be OK if someone like say, Harveys or Dark Star or even Shepherd Neame were to have the bar concessions in the Supporters' Bar or even the NSC Bar.

Anyhoo, my Falmer experience will be visiting the Open House en route from home (the Harveys isn't that bad in there - nor are the bar staff) or the Nelson / Trafalgar / Evening Star if I was coming in from the centre of the city.

and you're right.......i didn't say it WOULDN'T have the default beers.......i would just hope that we did something a bit different, thats all

when the really important stuffs done, and the finishing touches are being added we should petition the club with the way WE want the little things, encourage us into the stadium at 1pm and all that, make a whole day of it

I don't know, but I would rather they did if we end up with problems. The last thing we would want is 1,000s descending on the village for a drink and end up with all sorts of 'mischief'. Wasn't it Darlington that were forced to defend their right to play at home or fund extra policing as there was trouble in the streets? ???
