They are building a football stadium not a Students Union Bar so I doubt if any of those above would be considered. Will probably be Carlsberg and Tetleys or Fosters and John Smith depending on which of the 2 companies give us most money for the rights to sell their products.

They are building a Community Stadium. Carlsberg Tetley might well get some of the concessions, but there'll be a f***ing riot if some decent ale for the community (rather than that disgusting shit served up by CT) is not forthcoming.

Or if not, there should be.

That's exactly what i will be doing if every Albion fan had there pre Match beers in the stadium i am sure it would make a massive revenue boost and maybe they could even put X % of that towards the transfer budget.
So long as it DOES go to the club. Those of us who attended the very first NSC sponsored match in, well 1893 it feels like now, will remember drinking the hospitality bar dry. And I DO mean dry; thanks to the prodigious consumption of the legendary Cannarian Seagull every last bottle went. We were pleased that we had all helped to swell the club's coffers - only to find out that the club didn't make a penny from the bar sales and all the profit went to the company that managed the stadium. (Ecovert wasn't it?)

Are there any grounds where you can get a decent pint ?

I fear the worst.

I'm scratching my head trying to think of one.

The most insulting thing is when you go to some grounds, not so much here but in Portugal in 2004, and not only were they only serving Carlsberg - it's Carlsberg Non-Alcoholic. How f***ing low can you get...?

Well the trick in Portugal was to load up on Super Bock pre-game.

After all;

Super Bock
Super Star
Gets you more pissed than Stella Artois

Haywards Heath

From Haywards Heath I can see us making a nice little regular stop in Lewes for a couple of pre math beers an then onto Falmer.

Now Super Bock was good stuff...

2 Euros (£1.35) a pint - sorry, half-litre. Went down very smoothly with no real effect, until the third one, then your head went mental, and your speech contained more dribble than dialogue.

Well, perhaps not, but it was good stuff.

Isn,t there a pub in Stanmer village? or am I imagining it?

Not a big fan of the Swan, and they will never let us in the Union Bar.

No. There's a teashop and some cows.

I can't believe Sussex University Student Union would not let us into the Falmer Bar on matchdays. They'd clean up - cash-wise.

Oxford Brookes did not let Oxford United fans (when they played at The Manor) into the SU. They had quite a strict policy of only NUS members using the facilities anyway.

The USSU bar is not very big anyway, so I doubt that is a goer.

At the last count (admittedly it's been a while since I've been on campus), there were seven bars at Sussex University. We'll have one (the Falmer Bar), they can have the other six...

Asda sell 6 bottles of the stuff for about £3.50 at present.

Marvelous stuff.

I didn't realise it was that many!

I can't see the SU going for that and ultimately it will be up to them, will it not?

It is good stuff, but it's not the same if you have it at home. It was a beer of its time and of the moment. It tasted better out there, during the football, in the heat, at that price.

Maybe one day I'll re-live the memories and don a pair of bad taste shorts, an ill-fitting Brighton top and go and find a big screeen in a town square somewhere...

I never drink before I do any sums, I gets em wrong.
:dunce:

maybe i'm wrong here but I was under the impression there would be a bar attached to the outside of the stadium (even if it's only a members bar) a bit like the one at Torquay, or maybe its just wishful thinking

the other point is who on here is the authority on beer? quotes like Carlsberg is shit-fact and things like that, its all a matter of taste. I think Harveys tastes like.......well, i'm not going there, but if I owned a pub I'd sell it because i know other people like it. I don't like stilton but i'm not going to the co-op and telling them to take it off the shelves, lets have a little more respect about peoples personal preferences (if you don't mind)
