We understand how hated he is, but then it makes for good debate having a figure such as Phil on.

You ask the questions and he answers them. It's not making him into a celebrity. I mean come on I don't want to talk the Albion Roar down but we are community radio, not talksport or the BBC.

Essentially if you have a question about his decisions and comments when he was referee at Albion games then post them and we will ask them as long as they are constructive and not rude etc

If you have a question about referees and decisions in general you can ask him.

He may be hated but so are other refs, I gather the Irish are not happy with the one that got them knocked out the world cup etc

I understand the racism thing grates and I think Phil may have mentioned it last time, but feel free to ask questions about it and Phil will address them.

I have not met him as he has been in when Richie presents the show, but he travels down and is willing to address what Albion fans want to ask.

Think that's fair.

By the way Arthur, it's The Albion Roar, not TLO Albion Roar - we are a team, though Al is a valuable member

Jonny

'An enemy of the Albion' is the right thing to label him. If you wanted another ex-referee I'm sure you could have got one.

You are welcome to him of course. Personally I won't be listening to this show or any of your others because of it though.

not being funny. I think Albion Roar is a great idea....

But having Phil Prosser on there AGAIN is never going to be the best idea.
Surely getting some old players who people actually want to hear from is a better idea?

I'd rather listen to no guests than Phil Prosser. It's like having the BNP on newsnight except Prosser doesn't have ANY supporters..

Sorry guys I know you do a great job, but I just don't get it:shrug:

Blimey. I never knew so many people cared. And to think we get stink for even announcing and promoting the show, let alone who's on it.

Anyhoo, just for you Tom, we have a Albion player from the 1970s in next week.

In truth, having a figure of hate is not necessarily a bad thing - though to some it appears to be so. Also, people ask us what happened when Prosser was on before, meaning they didn't hear the show. So... it's a kind of reprise.

I can ask him about the 'racist fans' comment again. He stood by it before, he may have change his opinion by now - unlikely, but who knows?

Also, irrespective of his standing among many fans, he was a professional referee, and he does know the rules - really. The fact his interpretation of them often left people fuming is another matter. So his views of the game - and the fact we have so many gripes about the refs these days - are just as valid as anyone else's.

Don't be telling him that, it's WAY beyond his comprehension.

Incidentally, I'd love to have Bellotti and Archer on.

And yes that would be great, but then I doubt you'd be asking them about, say, foreign ownership of football club or finance in the Premiership. You'd be calling them to account for what they did, not offering them up as interesting subject matter experts.

I doubt that you'd invite them back (unless it was for more punishment) either.

It's all a bit bewildering what you're doing really.

To be honest I'm not really interested in the little shit's opinion. I'm sure he will stick by his story and we'll gain nothing from a pantomime-like exchange over what was actually said: "Oh no we didn't! Oh yes you did!".

However I DO want to know WHY he went public, what action he took, what official channels he used and what the outcome was.

I know, I was only joshing. Still must be hard getting in that studio with you him and his ENORMOUS ego?

I assume being a prat comes naturally to you.

Anyone but Bloom eh?

Happily have Tony Bloom in as well, if he'll come on.

He was - for want of a better term - promised to Seagulls Over London first. I'll ask once he's been a guest with them, so sometime early in the new year.

Jonny I have made some unnecessary remarks regarding the show and I wish I hadn't and apologies for those times I did. I do listen in but mainly to the post match interviews which give another angle to the reaction. I have suggested on another thread that perhaps the show should go for a different time slot perhaps 1-2pm or even 1.30-2.30pm then it could encapsulate any late pre match info. I think what Arthur is referring to are Alan's references to 'my radio show' this or that, which could perhaps alienate some people. Good luck with future shows.

I do find it extremely perturbing and quite disgusting that you spend so much time commenting on me, my partner, my home life and my private life, feebly deny it, and turn them into nasty little exercises in pathetic point-scoring.

I made one reference to 'my' show, which you have decided to take out of context, make out I often refer to it, and place that emphasis on making out it's someone else's slant - notwithstanding that, in the context of the radio show as well as me personally, neither you nor Arthur actually know what you're on about.

Stop it.

Make the studio bigger and you could probably accommodate Kelvin Morton and Scott McGleish too.

He's not really a hate figure. But he is an enemy of the club. If it was a set the record straight piece of journalism, which you aren't going to do with Prosser and doesn't really lend itself to the feel of the show, then that might be ok. As it is it's all a bit boring and empty, not helped by Prosser himself having nothing salient to say about football. You might as well put a cat on the other side of the microphone. Or that referee who sent Beckham off in '98. Or anyone who's ever been on loan to us and only ever been on the bench. Or a mime. Bottle of water? Whoever played Bungle in Rainbow. Nick Rowe. One of those old Buzz Lightyear toys if you could get a setting where it sporadically went off. Andy Johnson. Andy Arnott. Terry Fenwick. Jill's husband from Nighty Night, you know, the one who bites the air.

that is, for me, spot on. does anybody give a toss what his opinions on the game are? you could get any referee on there to be ased questions about the game. the only reason people care about phil prosser is because of what a twat he was - so surely that is all people are going to care about hearing?

having him on once to ask what the f*** he was thinking in branding us as racist supporters and potentially causing all kinds of untold trouble for the club is acceptable, but what does inviting him back again actually achieve?

I have not made any comments regarding your partner your personal life, your home life or indeed yourself. I am not going to eloborate on this nor develop this matter further. My repsonse was addressed to Jonny. Perhaps I will PM him instead in future

I am really sorry you feel this way and really would just stop al this.

Yeah, I'm a bit confused as to why we seem to be making a cult hero out of someone that accused Albion fans of being racist at one match, and completely f***ed us over in another.

Pretty sure they were both the same match, but agree with your sentiments.

Well, according to many on NSC, no-one listens to the show. So if you had no interest in listening to the show in the first place, you're no better or worse off. And if no-one's going to listen to this week's show (normal, apparently), we can spend the hour playing records, or talking about cooking, or playing cards.

Alternatively, one year on, there's an opportunity to hear what he has to say about THAT match.

Absolute and total bollocks. How f***ing dare you, you dirty little liar.

You've made several unwarranted and unwanted references to my partner on here as if you know her or me. You've done it with other posters as well.

Your feeble denial makes your intrusions even more unpalatable.

I just wish you'd f*** off.

This why I have suggested perhaps the show could move to a different timeslot then perhaps fans could listen to it on the way to the game when broadcast on home matches as from experience of 'Reverb' reception is far better on a portable Walkman type FM radio.

sorry, i dont understand how the apparent lack of listeners has anything to do with inviting him back? although i may just be reading it wrongly

and did you not deal with THAT match first time he was on? if so, i doubt very much a year is going to have changed his opinion on the event when he had six previously to reflect on it
