I continued to use my current email address and existing bank account, used paypal a bit but not much but most important job is to keep a spreadsheet showing your ins and outs and your current balances at every bookie. It can be cumbersome but IMO essential.

It may seem a bit sad but I know where every penny currently sits, I have around £5k in bookie accounts at the moment, and I know pretty much every transaction I have made.

Thanks, your posts on this are very helpful, I always read them and sometimes again later on. A couple of other active matched betters are too. Yes, Bozza mentioned about a spreadsheet too.

I’ve had an online look at anti gubbing measures. It appears there’s no guaranteed way, but betting regularly on non-offers normal sports bets looks advisable, which one can always lay on Betfair, on regular stuff like Albion results or on (NSC’ers secret love affair) Spurs.

I don't want to sound all 'mumsy' but if you're tight on cash and have credit cards to pay off I personally wouldn't advise putting any money towards betting / gambling no matter how easy or guaranteed the results may be.

Obviously don't know you or your situation but paying off credit cards is usually rule #1 for 'spare' cash. Also, feel free to shoot the messenger, I'm well aware I'm sticking my nose in

Despite the name, matched betting is neither betting nor gambling. Knowing what I know now, if I had never matched bet before and needed to raise some cash fast, it's a perfect way of doing that.

I'm not advocating spongy defers paying his debts off, but almost anyone should be able to double £200-300 within a week or two if they wanted to.

No of course; I don't think anyone in here would advise not paying off credit cards. Honestly I'm probably projecting a bit as I had a hell of a time getting myself out of credit card debt, terrible place to be. in.

You will get gubbed sooner rather than later - it's the nature of the beast, but here is my list of things that might contribute to bad account image that may then lead to gubbing....

1. Making an initial deposit that is exactly the minimum amount required to trigger the NCO bonus. If it's "Deposit £20 to get X", deposit £30 or £50. Something other than £20 anyway.

2. Making an initial bet that is exactly the minimum amount required to trigger the NCO bonus.

3. Always making the free bet(s) on 4.0+ shots, possibly on random events as suggested by an odds matcher. Sometimes take low odds or bad back/lay matches. You'll lose a bit in the short-term, but it will be worth it to retain the use of an account in the long-term. Sometimes even let a free bet expire unused. No matched better would ever do this, right?

4. Making no more bets after an NCO but withdrawing any initial winnings. If you have winnings, place a random non-offer bet. Lay it off on the exchange. You'll lose a few pence but, again, you'll be helping your account image.

If what you are doing is following a set of steps laid out by a matched betting advisory service then you stand the risk of getting gubbed, so try to do the occasional thing that will make you look different to a matched bettor.

Don't worry, I've got 3 cards that I jiggle about so they're 0% interest and always pay off more than the minimum.

I'm doing this to help pay them off so am just going to pay the minimums this month and use that extra to give me my initial balance for Profit Squad. One month on minimum payments wont hurt.

Got to learn this properly so I'm going to be doing it VERY slowly at first making sure I get it right. Opening up accounts with bookies etc.

I don't want to lose anything and I'm not a betting man.

I’m at similar stage to you. I’m doing a fair bit of research first, asking questions, watching PS’s training videos, making succinct notes, almost like studying for an exam. To get it right when I start.

I’ve had about 8 bets in my life, I’ve just never been lured by normal betting.

I've done two weeks, placed about 23 bets, and have made about £140.

I have found the whole thing quite stressful to be honest, and I'm now being hammered by a couple of bookies for ID documents i would really rather not send off to some random email account in Malta. Keeping on top of the spreadsheet is quite tricky, but I think i'm doing OK with that, but not being able to withdraw money until I've sent both front and back of my debit card, passport and bank statement is really putting me off the whole thing.

It can be stressful at first but stick with it. I have been doing it for nearly 5 years now and you wouldn't believe the profit return I have saved. Stick with it, it becomes a lot easier.

PS explain that passing on ID is normal, and suggest a software to get copies of the docs across. If the bookies are allowed to operate in the UK, then they would have to follow strict data protection laws. So, it’s a bit of necessary admin at the beginning to give you the widest array of bookies. Like many multinationals, some legitimately operate out of places such as Malta and Gibraltor for tax reasons.

They are bringing new rules in May I believe so they will need to ask ID before placing bets instead of when you try to get your money back out.

So I'm just starting out. Joined Profit Squad and signed up. Was hoping the offer was for more than 2 weeks though.

I'm getting it slowly but a few questions.

I've just done my first offer. Which is joining betfair. Deposit >20 and get a £20 free bet if my first bet loses.

Do I want my first bet to lose?

I want to keep this simple and just do football bets right now as the few accounts I have I only really do footie with the occasional small e/w on the grand national or something.

So for example if I wanted to do our game this weekend in the Win draw lose market.

Do I go for Brighton win at the bookies and Southampton on the exchange?

Or Southampton at the bookies to win and us to lose on the exchange?

On the exchange I have three columns 1 x 2. I'm assuming that's W D L.

I've changed the odds to decimals and typed them into the calculator and both return a loss. Albeit a very small one. Are the odds too close to get a profit?

I need to place a bet within 7 days to activate the offer so need to get something on for this weekend really.

Anyone got anything that they're doing that I could copy to see what you do? Over a PM obviously.

Profit Squad (and its sister site Matchbets) has now ceased, I guess the offers have been so small and sparse for the last year to eighteen months that members stopped renewing, I stopped my subscription a year or so ago. Still made a nice lot a money over three years.

Am not surprised. Once you know what you are doing, you don't really need them. Plus I thought that they were overly pushing casino offers which is not something that I want to get involved in.

They would’ve been hit hard by the football lockdown this time last year. I cancelled by monthly DD with a rival of theirs the moment it happened and never went back.
