Harry is 20 and should know better.

Well timed Harry just before the aniversary of Aushwitz.

The fact that the look is that of "Hitler Youth" (although I understand it is actually a desert uniform he was wearing) makes the whole thing a little unsettling. There are groups in Eastern Europe who actually dress up like that NOW and beat the crap out of gypsies.

Quite funny actually if he was trying to take the piss out of German connections.

BUT This is the important point:

The photograph will now be used as propaganda by far right groups all over the world. Just wait and see.

The theme of the party was "colonial and native" ? I didn't realise that. After "Aunty" Princess Michael of Kent's alledged comments in America ?

What a bunch of out of touch arseholes the royal family and their hangers on really are.

You've gotta laugh :lolol:

He is just as normal as anyone else in the public eye actually. Like John Cleese in Fawlty Towers for example.

Personally I am anti-Monarchist, and don't believe they should get the privileges they get. Because of this, I also don't think they should behave any differently to us. Many people dress up as Hitler & Nazi's at fancy dress parties all year round, so why shouldn't he?

People also dress up at Vikings who also killed loads of people.

But that's just it thoguh, isn't it. They do get all these priveleges and special treatment so they bloody well should behave a bit differently to us.

I would trade in my right to wear a Nazi armband for all the advantages he has had in his life, any day of the week.

Because he's the brother of the future king and he's given a fantastic propagana opportunity for the far right, maybe not in this country but abroad.

Even though the costume itself in the context of a private party is quite harmless, the "Harry like to dress up a Nazi" story went GLOBAL around 9 o'clock last night.

One step at a time. Make them look normal in the public eye and people will eventually realise they are normal - and the monarchy will come tumbling down

:jester:

I f***ing wish

When i first saw this, i thought what a complete knob. But some peoples reaction is OTT. First, he had to acquire a Nazi Youth uniform, difficult you might think but most fancy dress places will stock something like this. Ever seen the audience for Sound of Music? Dozens wearing Nazi and ovther german uniforms, seen as a bit of a laugh and ironic.

So if others can wear such uniforms, why cant Harry? Should we ban Nazi uniforms and other paraphenalia?

(i notice that google is advertising www.AskMoses.com on this page ??? )

If Tony Blair or one of the cabinet wore a Nazi uniform to a private party and was pictured, would we all be calling for them to resign?

YES !

So you all hated the German sketch in Fawlty Towers & the numerous other piss-takes of Hitler then?

That sketch was a pisstake on the British attitude to the Germans. the joke is is on Basil and the British for believing stereotypes and treatin people superficially.

You have missed the whole point of the sketch, well done

We've had that argument before, about kiddy fiddlers I believe.

I can't have a go at Harry for this because it's nothing more than stupid in my book. He knew he'd be in the papers for it and all that but did it anyway, pure stupidity. End of.

At least he's trying to act how he likes, unlike William who is only ever in the paper doing the stereotypical 'royal at uni' things like taking part in f***ing cliquey initiations ansd shit and in the summer going walking with Daddy and Camilla. Plus who's to know that he wasn't poking fun at the way the media jumps on everything he does, or poking fun at the way people dress up in Nazi uniforms up and down the country and fancy dress partines and alike but if he does it all of a sudden it's wrong.

Give me Harry over the rest of them anyday.

(I think I may be a little drunk still, just read that back and it's BOLLOCKS.)

I'll bet the guys on the small boats when we took a pasting during the D-Day landings would have thought it *hilarious* that 60 years down the line a member of the Royal family would be strutting around wearing the insignia of the blokes taking shots at them.

Or maybe it's just a reflection of how the Royal family and how they are perceived has changed.

Beats talking about STHs and Spurs tickets, mind.

It may well have been the last costume available.

Afterall Theatre Gear in Tunbridge Wells runs a very strict policy on who has priority on costumes

Basically if you only hire a costume for the big ones, you know, Christmas etc then you do not qualify for the loyalty scheme.

However if you use them for birthdays, nights out, anniversaries then you are able to claim priority for the more prestigious events, thus ensuring you are not left dressed a Nazi at the local bigwigs sons Barmitzvah.
