What a load of old bollocks.

If this event didn't happen, Brighton would be a lot poorer, and your council rates would be astronomically higher than they already are. Putting some money into the event gives a better chance for having a decent return on that investment.

You think that the Pride committee just turn up and wing it for a day? Hundreds, probably thousands of man-hours goes into preparing the day, including all kinds of planning restriction, police liaison, licences, stewarding etc. Failing to do so would mean we'd end up with another day of carnage like for Norm's day on the beach in 2002.

What a load of utter crap.Brighton wouldn't be poorer if gay pride was banned.People are attracted to Brighton for the beach, nightlight, pier, clubs etc.Not mincers.

People are attracted by the gay scene and they do bring money in. One of the most affluent sectors of society. Opposition to pride is thinly veiled homophobia.

I very much doubt Pride has a significant impact on peoples council tax bills one way or the other.

I take it none of you have been to Mardi Gra then.

Judging from some of the posts on here, they have never been to Pride either.

I wonder if it's the same people who have incredibly strong views of players when they haven't been to the game ???

brighton has benefited from its gay populatin and there is nothing wrong with the parade etc but the stuff that goes on in preston park should be stopped, not all of it just the stuff that goes on in the bushes etc.

Why would i go to gay pride? I know for a fact i wouldn't like it.The whole concept of it makes me feel sick.Let them have there day but i certainly won't be in attendance. It's only one day of the year so it really isn't an issue.

Last time I went, and the LAST time I will go, there were to benders fingering each other sat near a path with adults, kids, mums with prams walking past in full view.....even two coppers walked past, but funnily enough were from the gay police federation..........they get away with what they want cos they pull the minority card out and start crying.

Brighton would be a much better place if we outlawed Pride. In fact, I think people from outside of the city should be barred from entering, certainly at weekends. Any activity that produces litter and/or noise should be shelved, this includes football matches. The London to Brighton cycle ride produces unnecessary traffic jams for the poor souls that wish to drive into the city centre. I would like to see an end to the Mini/2CV/Vintage car rallies as they also provoke misery for the city residents. I think it is time for the Brighton Festival to be moved on. We don’t want that sort of thing going on within our city. All forms of street entertainment should carry a death sentence and anyone daring to turn the volume up of personal music should be stoned with stale rock cakes from Forfars. Smiling and/or laughter should carry a mandatory 6 month prison sentence.

The seaside.
Not bothered by the thing in Preston Park, it's the St James' Street street party the next day that pisses me off. Particularly having to queue up for half an hour just to get served in my (straight) local and then having to have my drink in plastic. Bastards! Inhuman bastards! I say move the whole week of events to Preston Park and let us Kemp Towners have a week's 'holiday' from the homospecialists.

Deny it all you want, its worth millions per year to B&H.

So could manyn many other events bring in millions.........however they are not granted planning and licences as not a big gay celebration. FACT.

Amazes me the hate Pride brings out every year. f***ing depressing.

what depresses me is how it always polarises. you're supposed to be either against or full square behind. no room to raise a concern that maybe some excesses should be reigned. hardly helpfull is it.

Beachdown has taken years to sort out and got many restrictions in place.

BBB 1, 2 , 3 and 4. So much hassle some have been canceled.

Several concerts refused.

I am not fully informed of all refused or ones where people have decided to go to other towns, but it is a fact other events are sidelined cos of the amount of money the gay drug and f*** fest uses up.
