Neil Mellor would be good, young good.

He won't be getting in the Liverpool team with the 2 trolley's up front

If Mellor goes anywhere, it will be back to Sheff Utd

Why should any of them want to come to us with no facilities and an University muddy field to train in?

The same reason that sidwell/henderson/ingamarsson (sp?) did.
Ingimarsson didn't come from a Prem club.
Sidwell lasted 2 months before moving on.

Henderson is the exception.

There is hope though with Falmer, however players are normally on shorter contracts now.

How many people had heard of Henderson before he came here? Almost all of the names mentioned as possibilities on this thread are young players with a big future in the game, they are potential international players who'll be worth millions. They are therefore unrealistic. Henderson doesn't fit into that bracket.

Spot on about why we don't get this kind of loan though. Would Arsene Wenger want to entrust Lupoli to us? Lupoli would never forgive him!

Think Rasiak will be off to Wolves in January.

Kelly would be top, top - and again I say - top class if you got him, but would hope Spurs won't loan him out. But we are a club who seems to like the loan system, so Barnard must be a possibility to go out somewhere short-term. Or Yeates again.

We've got some bloke kicking his heels on the bench called Defoe, I believe.... :) :jester:

Mellor would be very useful, seems to have disappeared since that wondergoal against the Vermin.

Which proves my point yorkie, the reason why a lot of players may see us as a good loan move for a few months is because they are guaranteed a good run out each week, if they score/play well they start to be noticed by other clubs. Sidwell and Ingimarsson have all moved on to bigger and better things (whatever some of us might think of reading :p). We were the "stepping stone" for them.

Ingimarsson only came to us from Brentford because Coppell knew him from there. As soon as Coppell moved on so did Ingi.

via wolves but point taken on that. My point is though that a lot of young players who are looking at moving on from prem clubs may see us as a good way of getting 20 games before the end of the season and either getting a contract elsewhere or staying with us.

IF their clubs are willing to release them and IF they actually want to come here.

Transfer windows means clubs are far more cautious on releasing players but so far the loan system has been good for us apart from the French keeper.

Anyone know how much of his wages we are paying? Seems to be a total waste..

May not apply to Brighton other than in the most optimistic scenarios, but this transfer window will also be the last before next summer's World Cup - am sure there will be various nationality players (albeit maybe not yer tried and tested English youngsters) out of sorts at their current club and very, very anxious for first team action - hence Barca's Maxi Lopez seemingly putting signals out to the Spammers this week - maybe McGhee can keep a canny eye out amid some of the lesser-lauded clubs and countries...

I wouldn't have thought very much but you are right - total waste of money but you never know it may all turn out OK.

Most frustrating thing is that theres a lot of young lads that could gain some good experience by playing in the reserves or at least being involved but the frenchies in there.
