Coz we’ve had 2 disappointing results? I’m glad the 22-23 squad weren’t as defeatist as you were.
Just calling it like I see it, I don't think our performances have been good enough and I do not think it's being overly negative to say we will finish around 10th place. People have too high expectations for a new manager and a team with a lot of players to bed in.

You can’t argue with numbers. Our performances have been good enough to accumulate 23 points after 14 - better than 15 other clubs.

When we learn to defend for entire games, we’ll compete for 5th. So many times this season already we’ve shot ourselves in the foot, Amazon mentioned the other night the second worst after Stains.
That’s the thing. We’ve not played well for more than a half so far this season, yet we were still 5th! Imagine what we might do if we get our act together for 60-70 mins, never mind a full game!

I think everyone has gone utterly mad on here tonight. It's like a matchday thread where everyone is banging on about how awful we are because we are dropping down the table and we haven't even played yet. Lunacy. Just a reminder that if we win tomorrow we go 5th, FIFTH in the Premier League.
You do know we finished 6th at the end of the season not a few games. Into a season, not sure why you are waxing on about being 5th early doors.

Huge game tomorrow if we are serious about having a stab at a European place. If we cant work out how to get points against the relegation candidates we can forget anything better than mid table.

Anything 10th or above in Fab’s first PL season is fine. Real test is next season for me.

Fine margins. But every fanbase probably says that.

The ill luck of Velts/Hinsh/O’Riley all out so no quality defender at RB.

Within touching distance of so many other points.

I don’t think the aforementioned is in the alleged FH script of high stakes try to win games 3-2. He was candid after the Wolves debacle about a lack of maturity in the moment and looked fed up for the first time at Craven Cottage with the blunders ….. undoing some fine creative play at the other end of the pitch.

And the fact we were never lower than 8th or 9th all season made it a darn sight easier to finish that season in 6th.

So being 5th early doors increases our chances of finishing higher up the table so it’s very relevant point.

Oddly yes I remember. Would you prefer it if we were say 15th at the moment then? I doubt we'll finish 5th and frankly anything top half is perfectly fine for me but very obviously, by any measurement, we have had a hugely successful start to the season and if it drops off a bit then so be it. Equally, win tomorrow and beat Palace and everything will be very rosy again. Lose both and yep, we'll be dropping down the table and you can then enjoy telling everyone you told them so.

Agree. Totally not bothered about league position atm
I’m convinced it’s the media Liverpool haven’t won the tittle yet many things can happen. It’s just the same as we haven’t blown a top six finish just yet either.
I may have misunderstood the poster I replied to but this starry eyed little Brighton with a £700m squad at the manager’s disposal getting to 5th is some kind of major achievement is wearing thin.
I’m more concerned the manager can’t operate his £700m machine very effectively.
Of course someone will pipe up we beat City and I would reply we didn’t build on it so it means not a lot.

Because I don't think we're playing well enough. We've had some amazing moves up front that have got us some points, but we're failing to do the basics so often that it's difficult to see us mounting a challenge over the whole season.
Although I thought we played well at Fulham and should've won but for silly errors. We just need to cut those silly errors out
