Sorry if fixtures, but 2 confirmed pre-season dates according to the respective clubs (not our website of course!)

Sat 14th July Worthing
Tues 17th July Bognor Regis

The club should not sign a single trialist on the strength of these nothing games. Else they're just pissing money up the wall.

Amen to that.
We cannot afford another Molango or Turienzo debacle (not that we could in the first place).

In a way, it is good for Sussex football to visit the minnows. Certainly helps build on our relationships with a potential outlet for our youngsters to get experience, but I agree that a tournament would be great or decent opposition to assess triallists.

We have the Ipswich game - where do they play their reserve team if we lose the toss?

I presume it will be Portman Rd or if we win then Withdean (just a guess)

not too shabby , probably one more at most i reckon - kind've hoping it's Barnet but thats unlikely  not been there yet!

Doncaster are playing Man Utd and Man City. One of the plus points of having a new stadium.

I didn't even realise they had started building one. Perhaps we should have built Falmer on the sly without telling anyone.

Ok I know we can't play at Withdean but would it be really outrageous to suggest playing a London or surrounding areas club AWAY from home?

Brentford, Barnet, QPR, Crystal Palace, Watford

Just why can't we get games at clubs like this???? As THPP says any trialist games are really hit and miss with such low quality opposition for ALL the games except Kerry's testimonial which is unlikely to be a serious workout.

Just why do we always have such crap pre-season friendlies?

Why do Brighton and Palace never arrange a pre season friendly seeing as we`re so close down the road. Not as if it will cause much crowd trouble.

Maybe we have and we're going to drop it in place with a couple of Sea-King helicopters, having had it stored at a secret location for the past 6 years (have to work on the rust though).

I understand that there will be a second friendly against decent opposition at Withdean (As well as the testimonial).

On the subject of the testimonial I also understand that is going to be an ultra-competitive affair, which is why the fun and shenanigans are going on in the legends game before the match, rather than in the match itself.

so that should be two decent tests for our team which will give us an indication of how far off the pace we are likely to be, at least in the early stages of the season

You can get match fitness against anybody.

You cant however judge a new player on the base of playing non league sides, only a fool would do this.
