Maybe . . . . I've heard rumours that all is not well with Fulham and Martin Jol, so could be their next manager. Anyway, it's very close to Chelsea. 
Relegation with Sunderland won't look very good on his CV............................

Why does it seem a good fit?
This, although I wouldn't put it so colourfully!!! They gambled on Di Canio with no premiership track record so why would they risk it on Poyet as well?

Fulham would suit him. Sunderland would be a one way trip to the championship. We would however be at high risk of losing some key players to his new side in the next transfer window.

I think it's a reasonable possibility. Gus may have been a tad moody at times but he was no mad villainous type like Di Canio. His slightly-smothered ego would re-emerge with a good run in charge again for a spell and funds that wouldn't match his ambition and wish for guaranteed glory, but i think his ball-playing ethos would charm a good number of their fans just as it rightly did us. Tough to beat and looking to outdo oppositions in possession percentages wouldn't be bad for a side horrendously unsettled by the doings of its now-departed extremist.
