I wouldn't want leeds to pay US to take him off their hands, let alone pay a transfer fee for him.

When has Paynter had a real chance in front of goal except from Reading? Christ, think people need to realize that we don't really have a midfield that creates chances after chance compared to last season we had Dicker and Benno linking up well this season it's all down whether our strikers can find the time and space, it's a lot harder in this league and we're coping well, we need a bit more creativity in this team and who knows he might turn out to be a decent player.
f*** me that more rare than dodo shit someone talking sense

not going to slag him off....decent league 1 or 2 striker fact is we are a championship club who should be chasing better players...he has done very little for us and doesn't look very mobile....if we r using money to sign him we should have stumpted up the extra cash to keep murray......be very disapointed if we did sign him

Don't worry folks- he'll miss the paper the contract is written when he goes to sign it and then stab himself in the leg, thus meaning he'll fail his medical!

Here's what I put on the Cook thread, I'll bring it over as it seems more appropriate here:-

I'm not so completely anti Paynter.
He does proved what is so desperately missing, the link between midfield and CMS.
The fact that he doesn't do it very well, is a shame!.

But I guess Gus feels the longer he's with us and back training/playing the more chance of his system working.
As opposed to starting again with another lump.

Although it's somewhat damming with faint praise, it does seem to go against the grain on this thread.

There's a lot more wrong than right with our squad, just turning on Paynter isn't the answer.

I'd love it if Paynter scored a load just to shut you lot up, talk about getting on your own players back.

Thank Christ someone else with some sense ..... If half of this lot got off he's back he would probably start doing the job that Gus wants him to do
Yes he missed a good opportunity at Reading with the header but then again CMS missed 2 from as close range but he don't get abused

Que more flack and quoted commements from the super pundits and keyboard football managers on here

Gus knows what he is doing and if that includes Billy then FFS get behind the lad and the team not on he's back

Paynter has been unbelievably poor every time he's taken the field for the Albion. He can't jump, win a challenge, pass, run or stand in the right place. He missed a volley from one yard at Reading - this was the closest he's come to showing skill - it was very, very difficult to miss from there. If Paynter's the answer, Gus must have misunderstood the question.

Meanwhile, Poyet confirmed that he will begin talks with Billy Paynter, whose loan deal expires after the Southampton fixture at the Amex.

"We need to analyse a few things and talk to Billy first. We have not talked to him yet because of the games but when the time comes we'll talk and let everyone know."

I don't think that sounds particularly positive for Paynter tbh.

We've had our fair share of crap strikers over the years. I've never felt the need to stuff myself with humble pie if one of them scored.
