In theory £150k for a championship squad player is ok, but factor in wages and the point is that for that money we could easily have afforded to keep Murray who is a much better player that BP. No one is really sure, but the general belief seems to be that we were around £3k per week short of what GM wanted, and I bet BP will want a lot more that £3k per week! If we do sign BP long term, this smacks of desperation, poor planning in the summer is coming back to haunt us now!
BP is on 8k a week in which is shocking, but thats leeds fault and i hope we,re not paying 100%.

On the day at Reading I thought Paynter was awful.

HOWEVER it is true that when him and Noone came on, the game changed. Yes I know that Noone contributed to that and I also know that Billy missed two chances (one a complete sitter), but maybe he does contribute and the fact that I am not working full time in a football related role means I am unable to understand what it is.

I wouldn't be upset if his loan was extended, but I would be surprised and concerned if he was signed on a permanent basis.

Not me. I agree with a few people on here, that he seems to be a scapegoat for our patchy form (along with Ankergren).

We all know Paynter is an average player at this level, and we're not going to challenge at the top with him leading the line. However, my thought is that Gus sees something in him. Maybe he thinks he can link up play, maybe he likes what he sees in training, maybe he has a work ethic that he can see rubbing off on junior players. Perhaps he won't be a bad player to have as a backup striker next season?

Yes i agree....the ghost that haunts us,in the form of Glenn Murray ! I guess if we knew then what we know now, things would be different.

Most Albion fans thought Murray was a good player and wanted him to stay, but most were repeating the "in gus we trust mantra" as he allowed Muzza to walk for the sake of a few quid. a mistake imho as Murray is proving, he is exactly what we miss.

I like Gus but he has a stubborn and uncompromising streak and Muzza came up against it.

Muzza is not what we miss,we miss creative midfielders with an eye for goal.
