If I made it 7 it would be the same stat! The only change would be the last time ManCity weren’t in it - so you would be only 6 teams have been in it for the last 12 years or more or whatever it is since MAnCity came back up.

If the PL had allowed the Saudis had taken over Newcastle last autumn, they’d now have more money that Chelski or ManC.

For every Leicester, there are the Derby's, Blackpool's, Huddersfield's, Norwich's, Reading's, Swansea's, Wigan's, Bournemouth's, M'Boro's, Stoke's, Blackburn's, Cardiff's, QPR's, Bolton's, Barnsley's, Watford's...all within the last decade, all with hopes, dreams and aspirations.

Leicester just got lucky by signing Kante and Mahrez.

Those 2 signings, who cost a combined £8.5m, took them from the championship, where we beat them 3-1 and 4-1 in 2013/14, to winning the Premier League in 2015/16.

Just a good manager and a couple of key signings can break the top six hegemony.

I can't really get into the discussion, for many reasons one being, as said I fundamentally agree and am only picking up on semantics.
The other and far more pressing is Swansman and Vagabond's anti Potter radar will already be beeping and I really can't be doing with their 'you're not fan enough' nonsense.


As said I'm all in on the project and there's still the possibility that this team will finish the season comfortably in phase II (the not looking over the shoulder, while hoping for other results phase).
There's also the possibility of losing 2-1 on Monday evening, to a late winner, and be staring down the barrel of relegation


I just keep getting the feeling that in 5 years time I'll still be told that although the Albion are 4th from bottom, I shouldn't raise an eyebrow because it's a "long term project".

Hard to disagree with any of this, Barber comes across as reasonably intelligent or so I thought, he must know league positioning is 99% based on budget yet he keeps the season tickets sales rolling in by attempting to sell top ten and European football to the faithful.

Until the playing budget increases we won’t progress as Mr B would have as believe and the long term project will end either back in the championship or a relegation battle similar to the last four seasons.

Personally I’m not really bothered what league we play in football used to be fun a break from the daily grind nowadays we can’t criticise players, manager or the clubs decisions without some jumped up super fan telling us we aren’t proper fans and obviously as thick as pig shit because Tony Bloom says so

Yeah of course. Villa weren’t ever a team to be relegated and challenged a few times, they’ve effectively swapped with say ManCity.

Someone could pump money into a Newcastle, or whoever and it changes again. However it doesn’t change the overall point that staying in this league for any length of time is a tough ask. Statistically if you get 5 or more seasons in a stint - you’ve done really well.

A laugh. Time away from the stress of the week. But that's for us, the fans. Obviously Bloom and Barber want us to play with the big boys, but doing it with a bottom six budget is going to be a really, really big ask.

Absolutely this. The football always came a poor second, whether it be at The Goldstone, Withdean, or The Amex. It's always been all about the meeting up with mates and sharing human interaction. Hopefully always will be
