This is what I’m not quite getting with some, not so much on here, but on other platforms, that want Potter over FH. I see a lot of Potter in FH, but with plenty still to go, despite the plaudits for all the signings this year, I don’t think we have a particularly better squad than under GP
Potter unquestionably had a stellar last 5-6 months in the job, but I do think that is causing some to view his reign in a rose-tinted way. We were average for a lot of those 3 years. He nearly got us relegated and got saved by COVID in his first season. And I maintain that if he’d presided over 1 home win in a calendar year at a time when fans could be in the ground, the atmosphere would have been toxic.

People's expectations are at an all time high! They forget that all clubs - no matter how much they spend - take time to see improvements with lots of new personnel coming in (Chelsea being a good example) and get impacted when injuries hit key players (Man City).

The fact that we are on track with Potter's last season with us - when the squad was good - at this stage with a new manager, lots of new players and many injuries - we have to see that as a positive. That successful 21/22 season had a really bad run in February/ March, which - if repeated - is going to send some of the fanbase head's to Mars!

GP starting his West Ham reign with the 'big club, big tradition, Christmas day' spiel annoyed me. Throughout his time with us we were reminded to be in our place and not dream too big. I agree with sometimes remembering where we have come from but don't be condescending.
Speaking highly of their fans, too. Wonder how long that will last.

Are you saying he should not learn from his mistakes and approach it differently?

Not getting sacked throughout those long winless home runs and six game losing streak gave him confidence to think he could treat the fans that way. The easy job at Brighton quote came from that confidence .
If Bloom had piled on the pressure it would have been a whole different outcome.

TB’s patience started to pay off and he treated the man like shit tbh when he thought he was the big I am in that last season.
Take his original back room team no problem but taking the recruiting staff, Bruno, Roberts the tea lady showed he had no respect for our club or the man who put him on the map to get the likes of the Chelsea job.

How some can big up Potter is a mystery to me he didn’t care about you as fans or our owner.
