Quite an astute move by GP to make this public. A subset of Chelsea fans are going to have to own responsibility for any future difficulties in finding the Potter replacement. Any top manager has a choice of jobs and the Chelsea one is becoming more toxic by the week.
And it is possible those 'fans' live in Singapore or somesuch and are jolly angry cos they lost money on a bet

Just hoping Chelsea keep him until after the 15th April atleast.
If we are the final knell I personally will take full responsibility for his downfall.

I am already stupidly excited for GPott II.

I'm starting to think how much of Potters success here was down to his managerial ability, and how much was down to the amazing recruitment and development set up we have.

I'd like to say I don't doubt his ability as a manager, but I genuinely am starting to question it - seeing how he is doing such a poor job at Chelsea, and how De Zerbi has improved the team since Potter's gone.
9th with Potter = he must have been shit, all down to the recruitment and development
9th (which I think is the table position ignoring the results with GP in the beginning of the season) with RDZ = great manager who improved the team

I don't get that equation honestly.

According to northstandchatian mythology, Pervis is better than Cucurella, RDZ better than Potter, Mitoma better than Trossard/whoever he could be compared with, Fergie better than Maupay... yet despite getting rid of all these people "holding the club back", Brighton appear to be strolling towards the same league position as last year.

Isn't that weird?

Only thing that has really changed is that 1) the team is crushing worse teams and 2) the boys can't buy a win against a reasonably in-form team. Used to be the opposite. Still 3 points isn't worth more against Bournemouth or Everton than they are against Manchester United or Arsenal.

The "improvement" part is also interesting. I saw the 5-2 win against Leicester as a warm-up ahead of the game against the same lot a couple of weeks ago. One of the games was a fierce, excellent performance with the team outplaying and beating the opponent firmly... and it sure wasn't the game after the "improvements".

I think this blogger - https://tweetingseagull.wordpress.com/2023/02/07/the-cult-of-the-individual/ - is spot on. If it was a cult before, then what it is it now with people (out of anger, grief and hope) inventing a reality that isn't there.

Imagine being Ben Roberts
A comfortable existence at a club he has been at for years
Then he follows the boss (he probably had no choice)
And then gets sacked when the boss gets sacked
So in a few short months his life is turned upside down and back again.
He gets a huge wedge but then has nothing to do and if he wants another job then he has to follow the money somewhere
Ben Roberts is regarded as one of the best goalkeeping coaches in the game, if Chelsea get rid of him as part of the Potter sacking then he will have no problems finding another job.

RDZ is still way off proving we have improved. Some very good performances but Potter provided those too. He's offered us hope after the Potter et al travesty, but the clamour to hail him as a genius feels premature at the least.

No need to compare, we are a better team now, better position with games in hand. playing better football, don't give a flying f*** about stats I see with my eyes when at the games.

That is a good take on life. If you look at the same thing with a positive mindset, you'll enjoy it more than if you look at the same thing with a negative mindset.

But the post is wholly positive about where we are now. The past doesn't change according to our perception however how we experience the present is down to our mindset at the time. Why shouldn't he think that where we are now is better?

We may end up 9th (or worse), but at the moment we’re 4 points off 6th with three games in hand.
And whilst I feel some sympathy for Potter, he effectively had a pre-season with Chelsea (the World Cup break), and since then they’ve scored 6 (Six) goals in the premier league. We’ve scored 16 - despite having injuries to Ferguson and Welbeck.
And - if you just watch the football - we are so much more exciting to watch under RDZ.
Personally, I’m very happy with how things have panned out.

He should absolutely. Everyone should. Always.

It is the right way of watching things. But for those of us who are more technically minded than emotionally minded, it just becomes a bit mind-boggling at times.
