Can someone give a resume of the story as I refuse to click on a link to the Sun.
A simple request, responded to in kind, though there is almost nothing to read...

ACE'S SMASH Former Premier League star arrested for ‘drink driving’ after ‘ploughing Land Rover into front of village shop’

A FORMER Premier League footballer has been arrested for drink-driving after ploughing his car through the front of a shop, it was reported.

Pictures from the scene show the front of the Land Rover wedged into the front of the County Durham shop.

The occupants of the flat above the shop had to be evacuated
The 37-year-old has been bailed by Cleveland Police pending further enquiries, the Daily Mail reports.

The shop suffered substantial damage and the occupants of the flat above had to be evacuated.

The store remained closed over the weekend and the fire brigade were called out following the crash at 9.30pm on Friday.

It comes after a separate incident earlier this year when Burnley Midfielder Dale Stephens was banned from the roads after he was caught behind wheel at almost twice the legal limit.

The £15,000-a-week player was stopped in Cheshire's poshest village by police during a routine check as cops investigated a string of luxury car thefts.

Officers are understood to have first let Stephens go but then noticed a smell of alcohol.

A roadside breath test showed the Premier League star was almost twice the drink drive limit, Stockport Magistrates heard.

To be fair the sun is very right wing & the guardian is very left wing , so it’s bound to have different effects on different people . I take the ‘Times’ it’s the most sensible balanced paper I could find . They don’t seem to let the owners effect it’s content .

The guardian is not left wing, let alone very left wing. It's an indication of how far to the right this nation has been dragged that it is viewed as such by some. Extraordinary really.

The Times is also my paper of choice.
As you say, it seems capable of maintaining a sensible balance and is not backwards in coming forward when it sees fit to criticise politicians and policies on both sides of the political divide.

Hmm,
General consensus is surely that the Guardian takes a liberal left leaning stance, is it not? Rather like its readership.

Both the Sun and Times plus their Sunday equivalents were owned by Rupert Murdoch who has his mucky paws on everything.

I would not use "very" for either title, but The Guardian is only left of centre by about as much as the Times is right of centre, only the Independent is neither left nor right that I can detect. The Mail is as right wing as it gets in the UK for a mainstream title, and I suppose the Guardian is probably the most left of any mainstream title, but it isn't the "Socialist Worker"

It's left of the other press. the press is very right wing. The times is beyond right of centre for sure, but the political lurch to the right in this country results in folk thinking is central and the guardian is left wing. Totally bizarre.

Affect.

It's affect.

And the owner is Rupert Murdoch. He also owns The Sun.

Also, nobody should be fair to the Sun. No matter how lovely the pictures ???
