cnn just reported that the mother has been offered a plea deal, if she confesses to accidentally killing her daughter then she will be offered 2 years in prison.

Breaking news from an Aunt (the father's sister), although still not confirmed

This was also on Channel 4 news. Adding that she would only do a few months if that.

this requie you to beleive such an "outfit" exists. personally i find that too implausible. if they did exist, why havent there been stories about such practices before and why no expose now? some journo's wet dream i reckon.

Whoever it was has outwitted the Police and the rest of the world. If someone did it on the spur of the moment, they did a very good job of it.

If true, this cutting a deal thing is just wrong. If (big if) she was responsible she should be sent away for a long time for wasting the time of most of Western Europe.

The fact that they have offered a deal, suggests to me that they are no wiser as to what happened to Madeliene than since day 1, and are now so desperate to find answers they,ll try and offer anything.

Sounds about right. Robert Murat would probably agree as well.

How in these days of advanced forensic science can they have made such a bad job of it?

brighton, actually
i recall that there was reports of the police making an arrest 'within days'.. ?

interesting the 'family' didnt mention the paper allegations (and subsequent threats to sue) during the various press appearances yesterday (Friday).. is it because they know something vital to the case, that hasn't been released yet by the cops?

going by what their 'official' rep / lawyer who want even in the room when they questioned the mum on Thursday (her words), for ELEVEN hours, I can't see how she could be so surprised by the latest change of status..

i do not know about the plea deal- is that another dig at the cops, by the family?

what makes me feel there's something 'wrong' is that the uncles/aunts etc all crack on about needing to focus on finding the abductor, but less so now on finding Madeleine..

.. i think the parents need to do a press conference themselves, say exactly what happend, and try get the press on board again, to help find their daughter.

the police seem to be clutching at straws, with the law restricting what info can be officially released, and therefore be treated as credible.

I happen to know that these days you would have to go completely hog wild with sedatives to administer a dose sufficient to kill someone, In order to cause a respiratory arrest (The usual cause of fatalities with things like benzodiazepines and opiates) tou would probably need a handful of tablets, even for a four year old.

No I dont think that two Doctors would have made a mistake of this nature.

If they were in the habit of giving the kids a Mickey Finn at bedtime, the kids would have been dopey during the day as well.

Simple way to check the other kids is to take a hair sample, commonly used sedatives leave traces in hair for months.

I agree with you. The theory does sound plausible to be honest, but they'd really have to be going some to kill their child. Surely they would have had to steal them from the hospital or make our ficticious scripts?

Unless of course the child had a reaction to a normal dosage which is in the realms of possibility.

Just because you are a doctor it doesn't mean you can help yourself to whatever you need personally, there are rules and accompanying bureaucratic procedures. But then if you know how the bureaucratic system works ........

Watching the footage of them getting off the plane earlier, I nearly choked on my drink when i saw Gerry McCann open the boot of the car whilst carrying one of the twins. My first thought was that he was gonna put the kid in the boot!!!
