Bloody hell. There was a SMALL crowd being heavily held off by police, they are protesting for something they believe in, as far as i know, they broke a couple of windows and then carried on with their business. PLEASE can people on here stop over reacting because these people are all students, you were students once. Also, being a student myself, i think it is completely outrageous at the new 'cuts', f***ing tory government.

Slightly ironic that the protesters are annoyed that businesses are not paying what they feel is their 'fair' share of tax, yet their protest leads to thousands of pounds of taxpayers money needed to police the streets. (Yes the figures aren't comparable, but the protesting in that fashion isn't going to achieve anything!)

When I was in Brighton there were just loads of police milling around doing nothing for hours.

nice to se the PC Brigade have woken up, lifes too short to f*** around gluing your hands to shop windows in the faint and distant HOPE that something will be done, get over it and deal with I say!

What do you mean PC? In what way is it politically correct? If we all took your view we'd be watching some non league outfit in Burgess Hill today rather than be a few months away from some marvelous scenes in Falmer. York City in 1996 was just the start of a long journey. But no, the best way to deal with Archer was to 'get over it and deal with I say (sic)!'

you're a precious fool! our plight and hippies gluing their hands to windows is NOT anywhere near the same......but its pointless arguing with you as no doubt you were there screaming for free rights and tax for all.......GET OVER IT!

they broke a couple of windows and then carried on with their business.

You make that sound perfectly ok, but it's criminal damage and I hope they get prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for it (which would result in a criminal recors, and big problems getting a job in the future).

Yes, I was a student once, but the stupid things I did mainly involved getting a bit drunk, not breaking the law. Lock up the wasters.

That really annoys you more than one of the richest men in the country paying his wife a 1.2 billion dividend to avoid paying any tax on it? Meanwhile we all get shafted. Yeah right, lock 'em up.

If he's not breaking the law then I don't really care. If you think it's not right, then get the law changed. which you're not going to do by this sort of protest.

this from my mate on FB:
Western Road. They targeted Boots, HSBC, top shop, dot perkins and vodafone. Smashing windows and supergluing themselves to shops

absolute TWATS, anyone got a baseball bat I can borrow? I'm in the mood to break some hippie student legs this afternoon!

On the one hand you have a group of protesters, who angry at the inequality and hypocrisy demonstrated by successive governments, have got up and actually done something in a manner that doesnt physically harm anyone, in order to draw attention, to the fact that in our so called democracy there is no other means for effectively fighting back.

On the other hand you have a merchant of hate who threatens to commit a criminal offence of assault with a weapon, even though we all know if he had any real intention of doing anything other than sitting on his arse at his keyboard hed have gone and done it, in order to make himself sound clever.

Hmm who do I feel the greater need to listen to ..... difficult one that, but it aint the idiot behind the keyboard.

Oh and Marc dont bother to reply, you have so little of any interest, to say to me, I've added you to my ignore list.

..and this thread is going to go on and on for days with KneeOn writing post after post after post......

I'm pleased I seem to stick in your mind so... although I am slightly alarmed at your constant badgering at me now rather than at what is being debated. Remember there is a difference and I thankfully do not represent anyone other than my self.

Also, its a fair cop to assign me to these given my thread involvement and actions lately but not me guv' honest. I was at work today, flipping burgers (even though we don't flip them). Ukuncut is a movement I support but don't participate in. I keep my actions firmly in the court of education cuts/fee rises!

The attacks on Vodefone during our protests however is linked to the reason this protest is happening - the tax evasion. Given that vodafone dodged something like six billion (I think it was billion...) pounds and the cuts to education are estimated to be worth 7.2 billion, you can see why we'd target Vodefone.

But like I say i've been working and earning my crust.

I can't believe all the shit the students are getting for protesting about something that they think is unjust and threatening their future. It's even more surprising when it comes from a bunch of Brighton fans. I guess those who are so vehemently against must either have short memories or mellowed in their old age.
