This is very much unconfirmed, but reports suggest that police in Brighton are massing near the London Road area. There are no reports of any disturbances in the area so far, but it’s clear that police are worried about the possibility.
With violence having broken out this evening in Birmingham and Leeds, it’s certainly impossible to ignore the possibility of similar scenes occurring elsewhere. Police in Brighton are probably just being extremely cautious, but it’s still pretty concerning to think that violence could erupt almost anywhere in the country.
To reiterate: there are no confirmed reports of problems in Brighton. But the sudden influx of police suggests that there is at the very least concern that something could start to happen. And that would add yet another layer of tragedy and disappointment to a night that has already seen so much violence.
