The one thing I really don't understand about Holloways 25, is how can he pick McCarthy over Mirange, Dobbie and Garvan when McCarthy never kicked a ball all last season and is yet to play so far this season. Crazy decision to my mind.

Assume it's supposed to level the playing field a bit, otherwise teams like Man City have hundreds. A good by product is that it stimulates the loan market

I was going to ask this and can also only assume it is supposed to level the playing field. But 25 seems very low - that's only 2 players per position! I assume there are clauses in place so that injured players can be replaced before January?

It's not really 25 man squads though as under 21's don't need to be named in the squad but can be used at any time. A player born on or after 1st January 1992 is considered to be an under 21 for this season.

In the case of Arsenal they've only named 21 players in the squad and players like Oxlaide-Chamberlin, Frimpong and Wilshire are not named as they are under 21.

No changes can be made to the 25 man squads until the transfer window opens again in January.

I think players under the age of 21 aren't included so you can use as many of them as you like in addiition

as said to level the field, recall the days of teams having 40 man squads, ties into FFP objectives. it also came about with the minimum homegrown player rule, which excludes under 21yo.

Quickest way to administration is a load of players on contracts just sitting them out, they just won't learn their lesson at Selhurst

I don't understand that, even if they send him out on loan. In that scenario they are going to have to stump up some of the cash. And that's just one of the 25 that didn't make it...

Generally, anyone not in the 25 man squad is ripe to pick up as a bargain loan, since the parent club has no traction on the deal.

Nobody can be forced on loan, they can do a Winston Bogarde and sit the contract out. Not sure about Dobbie as something went wrong here and now frozen out so soon at Palace, mysterious.

I'd chuckle if Dobbie ended up back here and if it was simply the case that he didn't get on with Gus then who knows?

I like the idea of selling Dobbie for £800k to the Nigels and then have him back here for free.
