Just been told Gus Poyet is to step down as manager within the next 48 hours, make of it what you will.

In theory JFC and Maksimenko should step up for Dicker and Painter. I hope Spanish Dave re-signs soon too. Is he waiting for Gus to make up his mind?

Given that we achieved a miracle in getting Wayne Bridge to the club I wonder whether we can go back to the well a second time? Gareth Barry is 32 and in the final year of a 5 year contract. The circumstances are identical to those of Bridge. A favourite of the now-departed Mancini you have to believe his gametime at City in 2013/14 will be minimal if Pellegrini takes over and City clear out and spend big.

Barry could kick around the middle tier of the Prem - the chances are he will. Alternatively, captaincy of the Albion and a 3-year deal at a club he left prematurely might at least make him think. We'd need to offer him all of Vicente's wages and some more, but if he's not going to figure and City aren't going to get any money for him because he's in his final year might there be a Bridge-type deal to be done?

That's a back 5 but one of them is great on crosses.

Quite - got to be nailed on.

Edit - sorry, realise now it has already been done.

I hope Lopez stays, we should have offered him one months ago!
It was obvious at the time we should, which means there must have been a reason we didn't (our club is not being run by idiots).
Hope the signing of Brez doesn't signify something we don't want to hear about Kuszsack...
It shouldn't, if Kuszczak is leaving, we'll want an equal replacement, not just extending Brez's contract and hoping.

Hopefully he means just for the summer! Heading back to Spain for hols I imagine. Kaz tweeted earlier about him heading back to Newcastle for the summer now.
