Ryan 6 - not much to do really

Martin Montoya 7 - had a decent game. no more no less
Lewis Dunk 8 - excellent
Andy Webster 7 - good
Dan Burn 6 - did Dan Burn things. Obviously not a long tern left back but does the job.

Alzate 8 - lively and clever, first goal will come soon
Pröpper 7 - poor first half but really good in the second
Stephens 8 - xaviesque as usual
Gross 6 - not useless but not his day

Connolly 7 - falls off in periods but works hard, great with and without the ball
Maupay 8 - wasted a lot but his hard work and runs are very hard to match, important

Duffy 8 - excellent performance and great goal
Trossard 9 - well

Ryan 7
Montoya 7 Better than recently
Dunk 9 Excellent
Webster 7
Burn 7
Gross 5 Apart from last week's freekick has looked out of sorts last two games
Propper 7.5 Wasteful and poor in the first half, fantastic second half
Stephens 7 Poor first, much better second
Alzate 7 He's a baller
Connolly 7 Good linkup play
Maupay 5.5 Thought he was poor until near the end

Subs
Trossard 8 What a player
Duffy 8 Seemlessly slotted in and scored the goal to ensure victory
Schelotto n/a

Ref 9 Usually not our Friend and does my head in but hardly noticed him so must have had a good game.

whoscored? ratings

Ryan 6.6
Montoya 8.9 MOM
Webster 6.6
Dunk 7.8
Burn 6.8
Gross 6.9
Propper 7.8
Stephens 6.9
Alzate 8.0
Maupay 7.0
Connolly 6.8

Schellotto 6.1
Duffy 7.5
Trossard 8.2

but I must admit I have never really understood whoscored? rating system. It often throws out some very wacky results.

Montoya 6
Webster 6
Dunk 9 just immense. Were you watching Southgate?
Burn 6
Gross 6
Stephens 7
Propper 9 MotM stunning performance
Alzate 7 did so much good, but held on to the ball too long a few times
Maupay 6 poor finishing today
Connolly 7 ran the channels well

Duffy 8 really pleased for him
Trossard 9 enjoy him while we’ve got him. A goal and another assist in half an hour isn’t bad
Schelotto n/a

Norwich aren’t up to much. We should have battered them

I won't need to add my own ratings. I'll just say "this". Perhaps with the exception of an 8 for Alzate who I think was a menace throughout. The decision making will improve with game time.

On MOTD just then, Alzate did everything right with a chance he made for himself, but Krul pulled out a quality save with his leg.

To be honest I thought that was a poor shot as with Krul on the ground he had the whole of the goal to aim at and put it in 1 of the 2 places Krul could reach. His best effort was the one that went just past Kruls right post for a goal kick.

I think Andy Webster is marked too highly, he was anonymous the whole game.
Adam Webster however, was ok until stretchered off

Did you not like the first touch that took out three of their players?

Krill was fortunate as he was wrong footed, but pulled off a good Jennings-esque save

Yes, he largely contributed to making it a good chance and there were 16 attempts from which Krul wasn't forced to make a save, so i'll join you in not criticising Alzate for forcing a decent save

Well done to Martin Montoya. I've suggested he is one who needs to step up a bit to keep his place, and i'll be delighted if he rams it down my throat ... (well .. you know what I mean)

Great for Montoya .. but it's sort of bollocks isn't it. Not one Albion fan watching thought he was significantly better than Dunk, Alzate, Propper etc, let alone better then everyone else in the division that day

Montoya was not very good first half just didn't get forward when he should have. Dunk and Propper were a lot better.

Montoya is the new March/Stephens/Barnes (take your pick), on NSC.

Do you mean in that everyone senses there is a better player in there than they are actually showing?

I suspect there just aren't stats available to qualify the control LD had over the game.
Dunk consistently closed down any threat, by reading the game superbly.
When he was called on to resolve issues he pulled off 3 or 4 superb covering tackles.

Those tackles clearly aren't deemed as important as Montoya's assist.
