When I come on here a read stuff it really makes me question my mental health.
we held are own but that's isn't the 6 th best team in the prem.Against the 6th best team in the country!
If we played against the local women's blind u12s and won 27-0 would you think we were good?

We were ok, watching the game I wasn't blown away by us. We didn't take the game to them woe were very deep there was a huge gap between the midfield and Cms.So let me get this right. We held our own against a Premiership team (any Premiership team if you don't think we should go by league position) and you think we did that by playing average.

Yes I have played football and to a decent level thank you. I thought there looked a bigger gap between us and Newcastle then there did between us and Wrexham.Have you ever played football yourself? (or any sport for that matter).
Playing against a team that is a jump up in class is so difficult. Us just holding our own against them should put the level of performance in perspective.
Wow!!
Brez 8. Couple of great stops. Distribution needs to improve, but we now do not need another goalie.
Calderon 7. Made me nervous on a couple of occasions, but otherwise solid.
Greer 8. Rock solid
Dunk 9. Cool and calm. Passing sublime at times.
ElAbd 8. Surprised what a really good game he had. I though full back was not his position.
Buckley 9. What a player. His speed is amazing. Couple of misplaced passes, but a great goal.
Bridcutt 9. Superb game.
Sparrow 8. Great game. Presume he was subbed because of the booking?
JFC 7. Sometimes the other players failed to read his passes. And knocked off the ball a little too easily.
Barnes 8. Worked hard. Defended well. Improving again.
CMS 7. Needs to work on controlling the ball better. Too many times his first/second touch let him down. But great running as always.
Sub:
Navarro 8. Did nothing wrong and in well.
Harley 6. Needs to tackle more ferociously and stop pussy-footing around.
Crowd 10!!!

Doubt there is too many people on here that they can say they have scored a goal against Chelsea at bisham abbey.World Cup Subbuteo doesn't really count.

Just this one time I feel as if I was watching a different game. Great day to e an Albion fan but in all truth we were not quite world beaters today
Brez 7 was, in my view, excellent doing all that was asked of him
Calde 6 struggled occassionally but less so than he sometimes has and all-in-all had a very reasonable game against top class opposition. Covers across the back line which I think is sometimes not noticed. Loving the hands behind the back routine
Greer 6 beaten for height by Ameobi almost every time the ball came across high but his positioning allowed him to do enough to cope with the mismatch and his game on the ground was as solid as ever
Dunk 7 beaten by Best badly for their first chance and cross shot and like Greer he found Ameobi's height and experience difficult but his passing has come on beyond anything I ever expected
elAbd 7 his role in the goal spoke volumes for me. Good positioning made up for lack of pace although he was caught out a couple of times. Great wind-up merchant and I still think Cabaye should have been sent off for the petulant flick of his foot
JFC 5 not his game but a massive ask to go up against Premiership midfield and he didn't disgrace himself by any means. Learning from every game
Sparrow 5 some promising aspects and was not going to let them over-run us but guessing he got a knock - booking was fair enough but no morethan a yellow as he had one leg tucked in and grounded
Bridcutt 7 tireless with some good passes - the best of a midfield that did well not to allow themselves to be overshadowed
Barnes 6 thought he did really well covering the left side and stopping them from pushing forward down that side.He is showing signs of increasing maturity - oh and yes it was a pen in the 92nd minute but he earned his luck IMO
CMS 6 ran his socks off as always but apart from one shot that brought a good save from Krul his best work was a couple of tackles chasing back and spoiling. Went to the far corner flag when he knew he was going to be subbed and legitimately killed valuable time getting back to halfway to come off
Buckley 7 great pace and strength on the goal and earlier he got into the box a couple of times - hard to fault his willingness to emulate CMS in covering every blade of grass
subs:
Navs 6 did a good job of harrying and covering space to prevent them taking control in the way they wanted
Harley 6 he lost the ball once but otherwise he made the right choices in the time he was on and helped us to push forward after we scored instead of regressing to our worst habit of sitting too deep
Hoskins n/r glad to see him on the pitch
Overall I thought Newcastle poor and lacking in imagination. Pardew seemed to have set up to not lose and his players couldn't change their mindset to take advantage when they had the bulk of possession and should have taken a real grip on the game - more high balls into the box would have seriously hurt us as we really struggled against Ameobi's nous and height and Best's positional play but thankfully they didn't seem to think they were going to score even if they had been out there til midnight. Ben Arfa with the exception of one pass was truly abysmal and Cabaye (that fit of petulance was a red card offence and John Barnes is an idiot for trying to justify it) and Guthrie seemed to sit too deep and lack the ability to decide to push into spaces where they could potentially have hurt us more.
Overall I thought we didn't pass to our best and we hit too many long balls without direction but having said that we are starting to mix our play more which makes us a little less predictable. We gave the ball away a few times in silly places and although I thought our defence, especially in the middle, struggled at times, we made up for it with committment. Not many sides at our level could hope to pass the ball out of defence as consistently as we do and we don't get fazed under pressure, Cut out the unforced errors and we are desperately close in my view to being a useful side. Add more of a cutting edge to bring CMS into the game and we could be surprise challengers.

Brez 8 - Looking like no. 1 for me. Really looks the part now.
Calde 7 - Their winger had him tied up in the 1st half but improved greatly in the 2nd
Greer 7 - Solid and uncompromising. Great moment when he played a poor ball to Calderon straight out of play then ROASTED him for not getting to it!
Dunk 8 - Just superb.
El-Abd 8 - Far better at left back than right. Solid as hell.
JFC 7 - Not his best but still a vast improvement on Harley.
Bridcutt 8 - £1m? He's worth at least twice that!
Sparrow 9 - Thought he bossed it until he came off. Cracking game and really becoming undroppable now.
Buckley 9.5 - HUMILIATED their defence regularly. We mugged Watford for him.
Barnes 8.5 - Superb and really put in a shift. Tracks back so well and covered so much ground. Great attitude today.
CMS 8 - Had the defence on edge all game and is only a goal short of the complete player.
Subs:
Navarro 7.5 - Very solid and settled
Harley 5 - So slow and languid. I really hope he gets there because he SHOULD be perfect for our style
Hoskins 7 - Not on for long but looked hungry to prove a point.
Brighton fans 10 - We were immense today
Toon "Army" 2 - Laughably quiet for the "best fans in England". Got 2 for the sheer numbers brought.
Gus 9.5 - Got it spot on.
Doubt there is too many people on here that they can say they have scored a goal against Chelsea at bisham abbey.
7 for an 'excellent' performance?Just this one time I feel as if I was watching a different game. Great day to e an Albion fan but in all truth we were not quite world beaters today

On reflection, I think I got carried away with most of my votes. I think I forgot some of the lax defending in the first half (Newcastle's best chance in that half fell to Leon Best when the ball was lofted into the centre of the penalty area in the middle of three of our players and no one challenged for it. One of their better chances in the second half came when Bridcutt, under no pressure went to head a ball that was coming down right on him, and he missed it. But there was some great play by our defence and bridders.Calde 6 struggled occassionally but less so than he sometimes has and all-in-all had a very reasonable game against top class opposition. Covers across the back line which I think is sometimes not noticed. Loving the hands behind the back routine

I think that's a low mark. Made a couple of good passes, was great in defensive cover, and got into some good positions (cms's wild shot in retrospect should have been a pass to barnes in the middle, JFC kept passing behind Barnes when he was in a promising position)Barnes 6 thought he did really well covering the left side and stopping them from pushing forward down that side.He is showing signs of increasing maturity - oh and yes it was a pen in the 92nd minute but he earned his luck IMO
It was that type of run you do when crossing the road and a car is coming so you run but it's as slow as when you walk. I thought his running around was more effective than usual. He actually seemed to be pressing the players in possession rather than chasing them and not getting there until after they've comfortably released the ball.CMS 6 ran his socks off as always but apart from one shot that brought a good save from Krul his best work was a couple of tackles chasing back and spoiling. Went to the far corner flag when he knew he was going to be subbed and legitimately killed valuable time getting back to halfway to come off
As well as "his" goal he was our biggest threat, I think 7 is a little low.Buckley 7 great pace and strength on the goal and earlier he got into the box a couple of times - hard to fault his willingness to emulate CMS in covering every blade of grass
I do think Harley gets more criticism than is warranted, but any time he got the ball and needed to turn he seemed to have to run in a big circle, rather than just turning on the spot.subs:

I think part of Newcastle's poor performance was the pressure we put them under when they had the ball, CMS. I think we also frustrated them by retaining possession in our usual style, playing it back rather than risk losing it with a percentage ball into their box, perhaps throwing their rhythm a little.Overall I thought Newcastle poor and lacking in imagination. No, not our best performance from a technical stand point, but we weren't overawed, the mistakes and errant passes weren't costly because we pressured them from the forward line.Overall I thought we didn't pass to our best and we hit too many long balls without direction but having said that we are starting to mix our play more which makes us a little less predictable.
