Platini totally loses the plot

He also says 99% of games have been sold out....

Hmm

99% of 31...? ???
The nearest it could be is 100% or 97%!

I did quite like the idea at first, but after a bit more thought:

The cost (and logistics) of getting tens of thousands of fans to fly from country to country every few days will be ridiculous and most fans will not be able to afford it, despite Platini saying that there will be cheap options. Flights to Kiev were around £200 before the Euros, and increased by over 300% during the tournament. Also, you won't be able to drink as much, because you can't fly when drunk! :nono:

Secondly, without there being a designated host country, what's to say that every single Euros tournament after 2020 won't be the same? Changing the location each time makes the tournament a relatively once-in-a-lifetime experience and allows you to sample the culture of a country much more than you would if you only pop in for a couple of days to watch a single match.

here hare here
"It could be either one country and 12 stadiums, or one stadium in 12 or 13 cities."

am i the only one that sees massive logistical problems associated with the second option?

The latest on the radio is that the idiot is suggesting there will be 32 teams taking part so the contest could be spread over 32 countries in Europe but as he says it is an idea of his that they are working on . Why what is the advantage?

What is it with him and Blatter are they having a contest to see who can be the most ridiculous and upset people the most.

What a prize win double they are!

perhaps it should be in seven countries, one for each of the goals he scored in 1984 the Cxxt.

The cost (and logistics) ...

are something UEFA dont really give a toss about as they know they will a) sell lots to the locals b) have substantial fans from each country that will make the travelling. How many europeans went to Japan? quite a few.

group stages could be based in one country, say Group A being London/Glasgow/Cardiff, Group B being Madrid/Barca/Valencia, Group C Milan/Rome/Torino etc. or you could have London/Paris/Amsterdam which i think would be closer together than the grounds you get in some other countries.

Hardly losing the plot is it. I think it's a cracking idea. Four groups play in four corners of Europe:

Group A play in Northern Europe (Scandinavia)
Group B play in West Europe(UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands)
Group C play in Southern Europe (Italy, Spain, Portugal)
Group D play in East Europe (Poland, Ukraine, Russia)

Group A vs B Quarters play one in North Europe (Stockholm) and one in West Europe (Wembley)
Group C V D Quarters play one in South Europe (Barcelona) and one in East Europe (Poland)

Semis played in Central Europe - Munich & Prague

Final played anywhere in Europe.

Solves a lot of logistical issues, and would be a real European carnival of football. Quality idea in my opinion

Platini attempting to ensure the tournament is neither held in Asia (Turkey, Georgia) or half of Western europe (Ireland/Wales/Scotland/everyone f***ing else) I think.

The airlines would have a field day with extortionate increases in fares around game times.
Say England are playing in Rome all flights will be at least treble price for 4 days before and 4 days after and then flights to the next venue and also the accomodation in those cities would he astronomical and if you made it to the final you would have spent an absolute mint to see the games.
Platini doesn't have a clue

so much for austerity in Europe.....the bloke is a complete tool.It would have nothing to do with the fact that , following the olympics we will have a second showpeice stadium and first class facilities and accommodation for the players , therefore we would have to be favourites to get the comp in the near (ish) future............he obviously has convinced himself he's gonna be it the top job until he cant wipe his own arse and can't stand the thought of having to say those terrible words " the competition will be held in the United Kingdom and Ireland" french twatt.

the euros and world cup are silly, games going to penalties makes it all stupid and a lottery.....and teams can get easy routes etc.

should be a world league or bring in "next goal wins" at 90 mins and take a player off every 5 mins.

totally dont care about international football really. run by idiots and corporations.

Hmmm.

France to host next - competition increased to 24 nations - lots of extra revenue for France
Following tournament - spread it out so no nation benefits significantly, but France get to host another game or three

Hmmm.

(It's a shit idea....festival feel in host nation(s) will not exist...it's this that pundits, media and fans always champion when reviewing the tournament...even in cases where there were serious concerns pre-event eg South Africa, Poland and Ukraine.

Yup, I reckon if it ran along something resembling the lines suggested above it would be brilliant.

It's a cost cutter.Held in 12 different countries,12 teams qualify as host nations and the qualifying stages are reduced to Scotland v The Faero Islands and Wales v Andorra.

How many headers did he score?
