Pictures of Sussex pubs.

I rememebr it before it got hacked about in the mid 1970s. When you went in the front door there was a massive snooker room on your left; sadly long disappeared.
Ah ... the seventies at the Six Bells.

You remember the snooker table. I remember an occasion when one of the locals wanted to have me arrested (along with the then Director of Planning of Lewes District Council).

Fortunately the village policeman wasn't available, because he was down the road, getting his leg over.

Do you remember the Pewter Pot near the Boship Roundabout in the same era, Lord B?. One bar, beer served in Barrels from behind the bar (a la Cricketers in Berwick now) and the old lady who ran it used to keep her pig behind the bar!!

It was a Beards pub so sold Harveys. I've got picks of me and some mates standing outside the last weekend before it was 'modernised'. Still think about it every time I pass it on the A 22.

Hey, look - 1000 up !!!!!!!!

I know it is not in Sussex but on the links below are two pics of my local in exile, the Turks Head in St Helens. A brilliant place, pulled up from near dereliction by its new owners. 6 real ales on all the time, curry night, quiz night, real fire, exotic lagers, 2-3 ciders/perrys on. Narrowly missed out on CAMRA's national pub of the year. Its a wonder I ever go home!

Just off the E Lancs Road if anyone is in the area and well worth a visit.

Well get your hand in your pocket, cause it's up for sale right now! I remember the one bar before it was modernised and turned into a pub / restaurant. Never any customers though.

....And another! But can you guess which brewery it is owned by despite it being obscured by foliage?

Lovely pub (above) - is it The Star at Waldron?

Fantastic garden

...Is the correct answer! Nice pub, nice village, nice beer, never eaten there but the food looks - nice.

Try a visit early October when the Sussex Steam Engine Club hold their road run - the village is full of traction engines and other vintage stuff and the pub is heaving with a barbeque outside.

The pub I know near the Boship is the Potters Arms.
