As someone who runs our club I would prefer it if he kept a cool and collected head. Not start flouncing off at the first sign of difficulties. I prefer my leaders to rise above such things.....not get agitated.

When did he flounce off? ???

Maybe DK needs to put his hand in his pocket sooner rather than later.
These 5 players need to be of a good standard, and not non-league and youth players only.
See the thing is DK...for a little expense right now you could build the foundations of a strong squad, which will bring home the bacon when they perform in the league and get us promoted.
Or you could go the other way...spend sweet FA, and watch this team fail.
Thing is, I can't see us filling-up Falmer when we are playing in the Blue Sq Premier!

If we don't know which season we will first play at Falmer, and don't know which division we're in, how can we determine prices?

I find it very hard to believe that there is NO ticketing info regarding Falmer. In fact it almost implies the club have no business plan. Ticket revenue will play a big part of the income for Falmer. As the club are currently trying to secure funding I would expect there to be ticket income estimations for various league scenarios in the business plan.

To use a Lord Bracknellesque analogy: if I went to my mortgage broker wanting to buy a house but suggested I had no idea where the money to repay the loan will come from.... I wouldnt get very far.

The precise exchange with Mark from Eastbourne (the Withdean Screamer) that led to DK saying "Get this guy off" came after Mark had had a good five minutes to talk about new investors and ticket prices. This is what was said at the end:-

Caller:- These five people … we’re not going to get any of these five people

DK:- Thank you, thank you, thank you for your confidence in your chairman, thank you very much.

Caller:- I’m trying my best.

DK:- Well then, how can you tell me that we’re not going to get these people?

Caller:- It’s obvious, Dick. We might get the ones back on loan …

DK:- Look, get this guy off. I’m sorry, we’re not going to have a conversation. This is quite ludicrous. Thank you very much.

IH:- Thank you very much, you’ve made your point.

The bit when he told Harty to get the caller off the air and his voice seemed to move away from the mike. The radio then went to the traffic report or something. I am not suggesting he walked away physically but he certainly lot his cool.

Hold the back pages something you never thought would happen!

I thought that DK came across quite well and that the phone in was ruined by the morons who kept going on about ticket prices when he had stated to the first caller what was happening about prices and the way the club was looking at it.

Who cares what the price will be when we get to Falmer, at the moment that is still just a dream that may come true or tuirn intoa nightmare. Lets worry about the ticket prices then not now. Lets worry about the standard of the players that we have got to help us avoid relegation this season or put us in the play offs, whichever.

To answer Jim D he did say Richards was NOT one of the 5.

I'll give you another piece of my wisdom - based on years of experience of pricing public transport services, where fares can vary according to distance travelled OR regularity of travel OR age of the traveller OR time of day OR something else.

You know how much revenue a new bus service has to make, but you have a huge amount of flexibility about the individual fares that will be set - and you'll keep your options open until the last minute. Do you charge a flat fare (say £2 for everyone)? Or do you charge according to distance travelled (some people pay £4, some pay £2, some pay £1, some pay 50p)? Do you let kids travel free if accompanied by two adults? Or one adult? Do you have a £10 weekly ticket? etc, etc, etc ...

Falmer pricing presents the same opportunities. There could easily be £50 tickets for some and £5 tickets for others, with a whole range in between. At this stage, I would expect the details to be kept under wraps - certainly until the Club knows what division we'll be playing in.

If we are in League One in the first season at Falmer, I would expect most season ticket holders to revert to paying on a match by match basis (because they will ALWAYS be able get in). If we are in the Championship, more season tickets will be sold (because people know that they might miss out on some of the big matches). The Club can't announce their intentions now. It doesn't mean that there isn't a Business Plan.

Exactly, there is no way they could build a financial model without an estimate of what the ticket prices would be. If they know the break-even figure is 13,000, they must know what those 13,000 will be paying.

Im disgusted!! With the number of people on here & the phone in who know so much about the finer details of the transfer market, ticket pricing & the general day to day running of a professional football clubwhy the f*** havent we won the champions league yet.
Who was the prick that had convinced himself that Eastbourne B had a better playing budget? For Fucks Sake.
Just a side issue but surely people must realise that £4 - £5 of the ticket price, through no fault of the club, is for the P &R that makes the actual price of watching the game comparable if not better than most clubs in this league, Maybe the club could give supporters living within a mile or two of the ground the option not to have this levy though.
Just remember, even though it was over 10 years ago if it wasn,t for Dick Knight & Co we would all be on the Crawley Town message board - and YES I do mean we should be eternally grateful.

I can't understand why the people on this thread who know exactly what we should do to lower prices, sign top players and get ourselves back into the championship (where we obviously deserve to be) haven't already put together a syndicate, got funding, and booted the potless pillock into touch ?

*edit* and i agree, Bens grandad, you agreeing with Dick is certainly worth holding the back pages for !

Say it's 13,000 people paying an average of £18 ... total income per match is £234,000.

You can get that income by charging everyone £18.

Or charging 4,000 people £30, plus 5,000 people £15, plus 4000 people £10.

Or you could charge 1,000 people £50, 2,000 people £35, 2,000 people £25, and 8,000 people £8.

The income would be the same. The marketing for each option would be very different.

But the caller who asked where the ticket office was so he could buy tickets for cash, nearly made me crash my car I was laughing so much. Was he the pantomine caller of last nights phone in ?
