[Albion] Pep's gone a bit "teams like Brighton"...

We all have short memories with this stuff. I remember under Klopp the season after they won the title during Covid ghost season - they went on a really bad run losing 5 Anfield home games in a row - including to us and City for example. They still finished 3rd.

He’s got some weird passive aggressive stuff going on. Actually I think he’s always had a touch of it about him, along with the patronising pre match buttering up of managers and teams..definitely to the fore at the moment.

Great manager and all that but does anyone else find Pep quite an unlikeable character? And don’t get me started on his irritating little spit rolling habit.

No we don't.

Klopp wasn't best pleased about his run.

Baldy spit-man the same, but he has disparaged the Albion while being otherwise hilariously defensive after being mocked.

Bit of a bizarre reaction to opposition fans but hey ho.

Pep remains one of the best managers in the modern game and despite a bad run he has an excellent 8 year record with the Club. He will probably want to leave anyway if he can’t turn it around. He will almost certainly want to distance himself from the Club if the Commission ends up throwing Citeh out of the PL for all the FFP charges against them.

I don’t get the relevance tbh. What’s that got to do with Pep having no sense of humour?

That's not remotely true. A quick reminder - they've won 6 titles in 7 seasons, the UCL, the FAC (2), & the League cup (4). The only season they've won nothing was his first. And now he's not allowed to say that people are being unkind because they lost at Liverpool without being accused of acting like a toddler?

I don't mind Pep. Until now he's been a serial winner and I don't think he particularly lacks good grace despite people trying ever so hard to find evidence of it. He's not won in 6 and yet his mantra is that they're in a tough place - not that the refs or other players and managers are all shit. Even 12 points behind I wouldn't bet against them finishing within 3 points of Liverpool (assuming no points deductions).
Wah wah, Brighton fans were unkind to me and now Liverpool fans are.

Nothing. But it's relevant to his feeling of being harshly treated by fans.

That said, it's a bit odd he's talking about opposition fans being "unkind". I hadn't realised that when I posted earlier in the thread!

He's a kid who's rich mum and dad give him unlimited money for all of the best toys and now they are being investigate for fraud and his toys keep getting broken and he's upset that the kids outside are laughing at him and he cant understand why.
For the life of me why did he get daddy to pay £100m for Grealish who is a most definitely a superb 10 and play him as a winger where he looks completely lost and half the player he once was.
Great manager my ARSE.

I think this is the only time that I have heard a manager react to that age old chant like this. He is obviously letting all this get to him.

I think I remember either Steve McLaren or Ian Holloway complaining that we lacked respect after they received a rendition of that song from the Amex.

It was either McLaren at Derby after a 3-0 defeat or Holloway when he was at QPR.

It might even have been both.

He’s been graced with some of the best players in world at Barca and been given unlimited money to buy titles and trophies.
He’s made bizarre decisions looks a fool selling Palmer who is charging Chelsea’s push to the top four and is most definitely now a £100m player.

A far more intriguing question is how did he get the marks on his face?

Is the fact he dropped Ederson for yesterday’s game purely a coincidence?

A bit misinterpreted maybe? He's not saying we're a small club, simply that he expected Liverpool fans, who (*allegedly*) are well-known for their football knowledge and being appreciative of other clubs, to be less 'unkind'.

How did it go when he went up to Virgil at the final whistle and told him to be stronger and not go down so easy? Coz I'm sure he doesn't just do things like that to "Teams like Brighton".

I remember Ian Holloway saying something sillmular about our supporters for singing it after we beat his team, Blackpool perhaps.

Basically said it wasn't nice, given he's always spoke very kindly about our club 🤣
