I still like 99% of your posts.

OK, 97%.

Would it help if I said that despite what I've written, I've just checked and I actually own Bowie records into the double figures? I have the same for the Beatles and half a dozen or so of McCartney's post Beatles singles. It's not collecting anymore, its just hoarding.

I don't know what to think now, I'm trying to balance my admiration for him as a key member of one of the greatest and most influential bands of all time with the revelations in this thread about his character and his shocking attitude over that late night sandwich!

It's a NSC demographic thing. Bowie was brilliant throughout. Only a few dare stick up for the 'limited' talents of Macca.

I was going to leave it, because it is quite a bitchy thread, but I fell in love with Paul in 1962, and it hasn’t diminished. His range of compositions is phenomenal. Yes, he has written children’s songs, so deriding the Frog song, makes them sound churlish.
He has also written classical music for orchestras, film scores, and had over 3000 different artists perform Yesterday, including Sinatra, Presley and Marvin Gaye.
Mull of Kintyre sold millions, staying at number one for 9 weeks right in the middle of the Punk era.
I saw him live at the Hippodrome early 63, and at the Manchester arena in 2003.

I loved the Paul at the BBC programme. So there!

Not a fan of The Beatles or his music but I was told he was a thoroughly nice bloke so I watched a few interviews with him and lo and behold, what a nice guy indeed. He may well be Uncle Knobhead in his daily life, I’ve never meet him so couldn’t say, but I thought he comes across well. Apart from the fab groovy thumbs up for all the cool cats, nonsense :)

I see that Bob Dylan sang a song for the musical genius who turned 80 this week.

I think I may have accidentally whooshed you. I was gently pointing out the apparent NSC love in for Bowie compared to the tendency to denigrate the work of Macca. I also have enjoyed Paul's work for decades. Too young for The Hippodrome in 63, although my big sister went. We Can Work It Out is one of my all time favourite songs ever.

I’ve requested In My Life to be played as my coffin is being carried into the Crematorium.

Clapton, who, stole George Harrison’s wife, finally married her but raped and beat her up. He was also unfaithful to her.
You might want to look up his speech about Keep Britain White.

Like a number of guitarists who sing, they are best holding one because he suffers terribly from I don't know what to do with hands syndrome.

Not as bad as Brian May though who has been chronically affected for years.

No idea who most of the players were, but the guitarist will be embarrassed when be he watches that back. Let it Be sounds simple, but that mottly crew really could have done with rehearsing a bit more.

He's not an idol, not actually even a fan, just appreciate his career. I have no doubt he has warts and all, like most of us aren't perfect human beings.

I met Sir Bobby Charlton 20 years ago on a jolly in Amsterdam. Despite 3 of us probably being very annoying, he took the time to wish us a great weekend, short chat, allowed a selfie and was a real gent. For another mate he can't stand him because he rudely refused an autograph once. Swings and roundabouts with famous people, must be pretty tedious being nice all the time, people offering to make you sandwiches and stuff.

This. I find it astounding that people find it so hard to believe that famous people have moods.

Right someone off or hold them up a saint because in one situation, in one mood at one time they acted a certain way.

We are so judgmental about people we really know nothing about nor what they are going through at any given time. Apparently, people who act or write/play songs have to be 'on duty' at all times.

Macca wrote some brilliant songs, which is good enough for me.
