That said, the clubs PR is coming across as bloody awful at the moment - and somebody needs to get a grip of it, because the corporate bollocks we kept getting fed at the moment is not going to wash for long.

I think that the club really need to get a new Marketing and Comms Director in. It is pretty amateurish of late.

So if our budget is aligned to last seasons budget how much of a war chest does that give OG? I can see there being a major backlash if come september when the Window has closed we've done very little business.

I don't have a problem paying to get there. It is just that the bus to get there is now £4.75 for a return when a B&H bus day saver (unlimited travel ANYWHERE) is £3.50. That is the problem, and they claim it is subsidised. It is not it is more expensive. It is a rip off.

Good point, they should do away with this subsidy nonsense and give Southern trains a headache as it seems to me they are the main beneficiary

Lots of wage increases I'd imagine. Very few of the old L1 contracts left now ... will leave less of a transfer kitty

Said it before, say it again, the Odeon don't pay your fare to go and see a film at their venue.

No, but equally they don't restrict your parking or travel options just to those sanctioned by the club or council. I can if I want park on any public street in the vicinity.

Said it before, say it again, the Odeon don't pay your fare to go and see a film at their venue. Why on earth should the Albion subsidise your matchday travel in any shape or form? Fair enough when the club was jumping through concentric circles of bullshit to get planning permission. but these days are gone forever. Pay your own damn transport costs!

Didn't they rouse us to back the new stadium and continue to support various applications with transport ideals included in the ticket?

Is the Odeon out of town? Does it cost a days wages to watch a film there? Do you go to the cinema every week? Do you buy an Odeon t-shirt every year? Did the Odeon ever suggest they were going to pay for your travel (albeit indirectly)? Do they have better seats?

Btw I notice you saying about the high prices etc. If ever you want a ticket for a game in front row of wsu just pm me. Have at least 2 available practically every match. £20 usually. They're not my tickets but I'm usually asked to try sell on... just a thought, esp as I think match tickets are excessive.

Financial Fair Play is being unilaterally being passed onto fans. Nothing more nothing less.

This is a wider issue than the transport.

I agree with it in principle but not in the way it is being dealt with. Like a number of good ideas come up with by the authorities it's the fans that ultimately suffer.

I look forward to the backlash from fans against the football playing industry. It's time it woke up.

When I hear another ex professional come pundit defending the wages on the radio or television, I simply turn off.

Let us hope that at the end of the season every team is transparent when it comes to FFP ie all figures are shown by every club. Then we can compare us to say QPR and Peterborough. It is hard to understand how we have the greatest attendances, one of the highest prices and yet are told our playing budget is the 14th? in the league. Somewhere the maths does not add up unless 80% of the other teams are not complying by FFP.

Have you seen this? - QPR need quick Premier League return

It is a projection, and so prone to inaccuracy, but it suggests that QPR could lose 60 million this coming season - that's SIXTY MILLION.

Our 8 million barely registers on THAT scale.

The use of sustainable public transport was part of the planning application, but I don't believe that 'subsidised' travel was a condition (even though it was part of the ticket price at Withdean).

The cost of the deal with B&H buses was always unsustainably high, and the club would never have met the costs unless we were all charged a ridiculous levy, so this was always going to happen.

That said, the clubs PR is coming across as bloody awful at the moment - and somebody needs to get a grip of it, because the corporate bollocks we kept getting fed at the moment is not going to wash for long.

I got so tired of it, I junked the emails and never visit the website.

There is a middle ground of course. Something that differs from the emails I get at work and more like the emails I get from my local cinema.

Football and our club in particular has an awful lot to learn. Marketing is supposed to create some emotional response. My emotional response at the moment is to close my ears and eyes to it.

Here is some advice.

Jumpers for goal posts is a lovely brand to play with. Soccerball I would imagine slightly more problematic.

I'm still annoyed QPR sold Samba for 12mil or whatever it was, a player they'd signed in Jan, and as I understand it that now counts as pure 'profit' under ffp and the outlay they paid originally irelevent...

I agree. We MUST Be horribly mis-managed and inefficient for this to really be the case. Also I suspect many teams are putting the same amount of effort that we are putting into complying with FFP into getting round FFP.

This. When did people get soft? I totally understand that the club seem to be pushing costs onto the fans, but this is something that has been generously sorted by the club in the past, so it's only going back to how things were.

It's not perfect, but it's a leisure activity and the club doesn't owe us anything (it's a business, remember) and if it helps us stay within FFP, then it's (regrettably, in my view) got to be done.

ye and a business needs to attract 'customers' and communicate with them

Yep. I suspect the industry hasn't quite woken up yet to the implications.

The next step will be photo's on Season Tickets and when your ill or on holiday they wont let another member of your family or friend go in your place and the club sells your seat. My view is if you have paid for the seat then you should say who uses it. Ok you take responsibility for their behaviour so are careful who you let use it. If they do this I for one will not renew my season ticket. It has already been muted that this will happen in the next couple of years. The club really are playing with fire with the supporters
