If he goes, he goes with the warmest of goodbyes. He's earnt the chance to make the decision on his own terms.

If he does go, we need to look forward to a new era. Central midfield is a key area we needed to work on this summer anyway so a couple of high grade, job ready recruits are required. We need to see it as an opportunity not a problem.
All the PL players with his assist numbers cost in the region of £40m it’s a problem 😬

Can't begrudge Pascal a season or two at one of Germany's biggest Bundesliga clubs and champions league football. He fully deserves to go home and see his career out at the very top. For us it's the value that hurts, replacing him with a player.of equal.quality will cost 5-8 times what we are getting.for him

10 million euros is nothing.

Tell Gross to give his head a wobble and leave Brighton at the end of this season on a free and an absolute hero.

Wobbling his head would only result in him wanting to finish his career at a massive club in his home country.

Would much rather his head remained steady and at task at BHAFC.

Unlikely though. Imagine that it is for Gross at BHAFC. Can't brudge him a thing. Don't think we should look to be making any kind of big bucks, if he wants to go. He's an absolute legend and the only tragedy would be that the fans won't be able to give him a proper send off.

As I said last pre-season it was always his plan to leave this summer. Like MacAllister he signed a new deal to preserve some value but was never going to see the deal out.

Yes, we can’t deny him the chance of a return to Germany and to play in the Champions League if that’s what he wants. At 33 years old, if we can get £5-7m with him having just one year left on his contract, then financially it looks ok for us, but just sad to lose such a great servant without a proper send off.
Possibly the greatest player ever for the Albion and certainly the biggest bargain.

He owes us nothing.
I am just sad that we can't give him a proper send off.😥
Transfer window will still be open when we play United. He can come on for a minute, get an ovation and then be helicoptered straight off the pitch to Dortmund.

Well this is a bit of a shocker, looks like it’s happening. Much as I’d like to join in the sentimental good wishes for a great servant, I’m more exercised that it’s come at a pretty terrible time for us with the squad already needing a big beef up before this

I'd rather one more year, find a replacement (Moder shows some promise) and then let him go for free.
sorry to come back to a post that was made a while ago now, and i have already mentioned this but i keep thinking about it and i think it bears reiterating. this is what we absolutely CANNOT do if he goes, which now looks likely.

aware that it’s not really what your post says but i cannot stress how badly it would end if we tried to replace groß internally.

trying to replace groß’s output with any other player in our squad is a fool’s errand. we either break our record to replace him, get extremely lucky and find some other bargain player that no one’s heard of, or it’s going to be a very difficult season.

Judging by our last two seasons I would say this is a bigger loss that Cac!

he has been the first name on the team sheet and pulled the strings of the team for ages now

this will be a massive blow and I hope the recruitment team have the equivalent experienced playmaker lined up to fill his boots as there isn’t anyone at the club in his class currently!

I hope this doesn’t come back to bite us

It may do but there really isn't an option here. We can't keep a player who doesn’t want to be here who has the chance of playing at home for a massive club and who has been an exemplary servant for the Albion. He's clearly been told we want him to stay and I'm sure a nice new deal is on offer but this is one of those situations that goes beyond armchair FIFA playing analysis and we have to do the classy thing.

Guaranteed he would be invited back as a half time guest to say goodbye at some point next season.
It's not the same though. He deserves the being subbed off with 10 minutes to go as the game stops and the crowd rises to its feet and sings his name and praises for several minutes while he is mobbed by team mates and he does the slow clap around all four stands before slowly walking off to rapturous noise.
