Imane Khelif, a biological male, being allowed to compete in the women's boxing.

Italian Angela Carini just withdrew herself from the bout in tears. Shame on the Olympic Committee for allowing this to happen.
Was grim viewing

I'm not sure how it's happened, or the back ground

But I've read she had been banned previously?

Wheels are well and truly coming off today. Now another hot favourite ism out in the shooting. WOn all but one of the World Cup events this season and finishes 12th in qualifying, not even qualifying for the final. After the disappointment in the rowing earlier this is a grim day when it was supposed to be a gold laden day.

Falling down the medal table, will be a struggle to remain in the top 10 if our 'athletes' don't buck their ideas up.

Grim viewing indeed.

Yes, the IBA (International Boxing Association) had previously banned him from competing as a woman in the World Championships.

The IBA had pleaded to the IOC that Imane Khalif & Lin Yu-ting should not be allowed to compete in the Olympics.

It's happening in many sports. Unfortunately a culture has been created where people would rather put female athletes at a disadvantage/at risk than be seen as offensive.

I feel for the female athletes around the world who have trained all of their lives for these occasions only to have their dreams shattered by this absolute nonsense.

Safeguarding should be at the absolute front and centre of everything the Olympics is about. Something has gone seriously wrong here.

Kirsty Burrows is head of the safe sport unit at the International Olympic Committee where she is leading the drive to strengthen safeguarding in sport from the local to the international level, and programmes related to the protection and promotion of mental health and well-being in and through sport.

No one with XY chromosomes - which seems to be the issue here - should be competing in any women's sporting event - yet alone a contact sport like boxing.

Disgraceful seeing that. Shame on the IOC.

Would have been powerful for all women to take a stand and boycott the women’s boxing IMO

Easier said than done, of course. The Olympic Games are the pinnacle of most of these athletes boxing careers. Competing in them is literally the stuff of dreams.

They would have received the same level of shit if they had banned this... person. Not a great position for them either.

Boxer who’s lived in Bolton since she was 10 having to box for the refugee team.

Zola Budd meanwhile….
In all fairness, Zola Budd's acceptance into the British team was absolutely full of controversy. There were loads of protests so not the best example.
