I can’t entirely remember the interview now, but wasn’t he asked about Oliver only booking him as a question rather than him bringing it up? Not that it really matters, his player was off in an ambulance and he was pretty upset. I didn’t have a problem with what he said given how bad the challenger was and a player in hospital.
He called into question the humanity of the Millwall keeper.
Something along the lines of "how can you do that to a fellow human being, endangering his life"

Very melodramatic.
Really bad challenge.
Keeper wasn't looking to cause harm, though.
It was a badly timed hack clearance that could have been a lot worse than it was.

Im pretty sure he wasnt asked about oliver. He brought it up.

Look we get it, his star player is injured but what is called for from a ceo is a calm reasoned comment informing the world about the current situation with his player. Leave the emotional scattergun to fans and pundits

What so Mitoma gets taken out like that and you’d be irritated if Barber showed some emotion, i’d be pissed off if he didn’t ffs

A better course of action for all involved would be:
i) the broadcaster not offering a pitch side interview to an aggrieved party in those circumstances so soon after the incident
ii) the chairman/other interested party keeping their own counsel and declining any interview in the heat of the moment where they might be open to accusations of slandering the player that made the challenge

I would expect Barber to say 'we are obviously concerned for x who is conscious/unconscious but on his way to hospital. He has a visible injury and will be checked over. As you can understand it's too early to be more specific. We are also disappointed in the incident but will leave that to the football authorities to deal with. I don't want to say too much more at this stage as you can understand my concern'

Yes, so it was utterly irrelevant for them to mention that it was a 'genuine attempt to get the ball', in this instance.
See my post above comparing it to Schumacher. Context. Plus, of course, it’s a quick reaction to first couple of viewings of an incident - not a summary with the benefit of several viewings and time to think. They weren’t diminishing the offence - just pointing out, quite correctly, that it began as an attempt to get the ball. Bloody hell, people want to find fault with everything these days!

No, they really don't - that was as obvious an instant red card for dangerous play, on first viewing - no need to to mention an attempt for that.
Hey, not wanting to argue vehemently with you, I just disagree, that's all. Peace. :)

Clearly no love for Palace on this board but f*** me that challenge was awful and the reaction of Parish was, as far as I'm concerned, justified.

Key thing he mentioned in that interview was that Mateta is a human before he's a footballer and that challenge was genuinely dangerous. Forget about endangering a fellow pro - he endangered a human being.

Utterly reckless.

I forget that the fanatics are a bit 'woke'. Didn't they have a Palestine flag recently? That banner is like something the NSK would pull out. It's funny how similar we are as clubs but I guess that's the secret to most rivalries.
I really don't like the fanatics but opposing ethnic cleansing and genocide is better described as possessing at least a minimal amount of humanity. Dismissing it as woke suggests not possessing that minimal amount.

The woke was in quotation marks for a reason, give your head a wobble. I simply meant that in the culture wars supporting Palestine has fallen into the woke camp and supporting Israel into the anti-woke camp. I was actually mocking that definition of it.
