Seeing as how Beaky has such a hard on for the 'ultras' maybe they need a new name? The Beaky Plonkers has a ring to it.One other thing for beaky to consider and plan for - what seats ar the ultras going to demand? If they are in the corporate areas that will impact the revenue - or will he grow a pair and lessen their control of the club when the ground is only 2/3rds toilet? Interesting times.
It's amusement and joy that we can take from 2013 - you had the chance to progress, to put some serious foundations down that could have protected the club. We imploded a little with Hyppia and a weird period where the club was up its own arse (recuitment of players and managers alike) - you had three years to adapt to the PL and progress, taking the huge revenue and investing it in the club. That was what was galling about that 2013 loss, we were so clearly better than you even then but allowed you the opportunity to redress that.A lot of bitterness on here. We’re getting a new ,long overdue, main stand and it will move us on as a club. All good in my eyes .
I'm hoping that is not a relative assessment to Palace's ground. Old trafford is certainly tired, but its got a long decline to reach palace levels of declineYes you are correct, it needs doing. And yes it will be a drain on resources but that maybe the reason the new academy took priority ?
Changing the subject a bit but went to old Trafford a couple of weeks ago the first time in 10+ years and was shocked by the state of it, like the old Wembley “ all fur coat and no knickers”
Serious question - and apologies for my lack of knowledge when it comes to South East London, but are there no options for a completely new stadium? £150m on one stand, which simultaneously restricts further development of adjacent stands, seems potentially a huge waste of money…especially given how inaccessible SP is.Yes you are correct, it needs doing. There must be better alternatives??
Would it be cheaper if they re-located to somewhere like Gillingham...?Have you seen the price of property/land in London?
Pretty sure there was a bid to build a stadium at Crystal Palace park.Serious question - and apologies for my lack of knowledge when it comes to South East London, but are there no options for a completely new stadium? £150m on one stand, which simultaneously restricts further development of adjacent stands, seems potentially a huge waste of money…especially given how inaccessible SP is.

Ground opened in 1924. But facts aren't really relevant for our Palace chumsAren’t they saying it’s the grounds 100th anniversary not the clubs?
I couldn't agree more. I was amazed when I read it was one of the chosen stadiums. I can only assume they wanted games in the Midlands to add to the geographical spread??Yep, away at Villa the facilities are poor - concourses are cramped and facilities awful - and it's got games for EURO 28 too - not sure how.
So "gushy" and so attached to it with its roots and pubs you "drunk" in......you moved to West Sussex....hmmmmmmInaccessible!, three mainline railway stations within 10 minutes walk, one of the easier grounds in London to get to I would have thought.
There are not many if any development land that you could build a football stadium on in the area.
Crystal Palace park would be great but, the locals would not have it as they are quite happy to see the swimming pool and athletics stadium full into disrepair, not only that it’s in Bromley Kent.
I sit in the Holmesdale end and it’s as good as any football stand, lots of bars and places to eat there would be no reason to develop it.
Also for a lot of us the thought of relocating to somewhere else in the borough is not what we would want in fact I would rather the stadium was left as it is than move away….in life there must be roots, my parents and grandparents lived within 5 minutes walk my first job was a stones throw away, the pubs I drunk in were around the area, nearly all those things have gone now Selhurst park is the only constant. ( getting a bit gushy there but some of you must feel the same about the Goldstone?)
The Arthur Waite stand is not so much "All fur coat and no knickers" as "Moth-eaten piss-smelling tramp overcoat and no knickers. (Or bra)."Yes you are correct, it needs doing. And yes it will be a drain on resources but that maybe the reason the new academy took priority ?

Dunno, could a speedway series there over the summerNothing wrong with improving the ground. They absolutely should be doing that.
The issue I have is Parish stating that this is required to make them competitive in the league.
Arsenal famously became much less competitive because they prioritised paying off their new ground.
Similar arguments were levelled at Spurs.
For both these teams building a new stadium was a long term vision of where they needed to be to keep up with United and Liverpool.
They had the revenue to be competitive in the transfer market, but needed the extra edge to keep them at the very top and FFP compliant.
Spurs in particular have maximised their potential by building a venue that can be used for other events outside of the football season.
Palace on the other hand, are fishing in a different pond, they are struggling to be competitive in the transfer market as it is.
Spending £150m to increase revenue by a maximum of £10m per season doesn't fix that.
Adding one decent stand, won't turn Selhurst into a multi-use stadium either.
Could not afford to buy a house for one and my company moved down to East grinstead for two. Mum moved to Warlingham when I was two, but grandparents lived in South Norwood to they passed and I worked in next to Mayday hospital. So "gushy" and so attached to it with its roots and pubs you "drunk" in......you moved to West Sussex....hmmmmmm
whilst I loathe to defend Palace staying in the Prem for ten years and looking a relatively secure mid table team is a huge success that few who come up can replicate. It would also be fair to say that Tony has had much more vision and strategic plan than beaky but he’s also invested a lot more of his own money. It's amusement and joy that we can take from 2013 - you had the chance to progress, to put some serious foundations down that could have protected the club. It is also a fact that repeatedly defaulting on debts, being passed from one to another without the burden of such debts, is what allowed Palace to remain in the top two divsions. Also the investors have put a lot of money into Palace, in addition to the PL funding over a longer period.whilst I loathe to defend Palace staying in the Prem for ten years and looking a relatively secure mid table team is a huge success that few who come up can replicate.
